St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Parish 440 Kendall Street, Burlington, WI | 262.763.2260 | August 28, 2016 Twenty Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

Very Rev. Jim Volkert, Pastor Rev. Yamid Blanco, Associate Pastor A Message from Father Jim . . .

It hardly seems possible that it is time for classes to resume in our area schools. The students at our pre-schools and grade schools return to classes on Tuesday, August 30 th and Catholic Central has been in session since Au- gust 16 th . I pray that the new school year will be a safe and successful one for all of our students whichever grade school, high school or college they attend. May the Holy Spirit enlighten their minds that they may receive the gift of knowledge and wisdom. God’s blessings and a happy new school year to all of our students!

Lord , we ask for Your help as our young people begin this new school year. Allow them to experience Your presence in the many blessings You put before them. Open their eyes to the new challenges and exciting opportunities that this new school year brings. Open their hearts and minds to new friends and new teachers. Give them a generous spirit to be enthusiastic with their studies and courage to accept new opportunities. Help them to be attentive to one another and let them experience Your presence in their new friends. Lord, Jesus, inspire them to do their best this year! Amen THANK YOU! I want to thank everyone who attended the Senior Citizens Appreciation and lunch last Sunday. What a beautiful celebration! I want to offer a special work of gratitude to all of those involved in the Helping Hands Ministry here at St. Charles: Mary LaBadie, Jacki Scholze, Carolyn Bauman, Bruce & Joy Bauman, Jackie Heiligenthal, Mary Pieters , Donna Moe, Larry Dornacher, Pat Lawrence, Joan Zwiebel, Phil Koenen, Bea Itzen- heiser, and Terri Condroski. Helping Hands offers a tremendous outreach to those folks who have given so much to our parish over the years. We have much to be grateful for here at St. Charles including our Senior Citizens!

God bless you. Fr. Jim

Me conduce a fuentes tranquilas, allí reparo mis fuerzas. (Anastasio Ballestrero).
