Tzo–Nah is a very old word in the Uto–Aztecian language that means “sound Being” or “sound One,” or “frst sound.” In this world there are many voices, many different sounds, all moving toward and away from truth. If they were to come together in one statement, one sound, they would speak of the original truth or the First Sound.

I am an American Indian from Southeastern Idaho. For This page is intentionally blank. thirteen years, I was a student of Joseph Paradise. Joseph Paradise is a spirit who speaks through Henry Paradise, an American Indian man from a brother–tribe to my own. I know it is peculiar to say my teacher is a spirit, an intangible entity, but that is the truth. The spirit or the spirit world has long been acknowledged by the people I come from. American Indian people pray to the spirit in all things. The message in this book, however, is not American Indian spirituality as it is practiced by American Indians today. The idea of the spirit as an intangible, intelligent entity in all things is very ancient. The spirit has been known by many names in as many different cultures. Joseph equates the word spirit with the word God, but not the one God of Christianity as it is understood today. Joseph is Henry’s personal god or spirit residing in Henry’s subconscious part as an intangible, intelligent entity speaking through Henry.

In the text of this book, I do not capitalize the word God toward the American Indian. He is sad and at a low point when except as God is understood by mainstream religions as one he begins to pray to the rocks on the mountain he is laboring God. As author of this book, I give context and a logical presentation to Henry–Joseph’s statements. The resulting book is a course of study. Speaking for myself, I understood Henry–Joseph from a very basic place. I have understood the spirit as coming from within and have given myself to its lead. Joseph made the comment that the spirit within already knows he is there even though he is not conscious to you. The spirit responds to you, to your thoughts, and to your conscious acknowledgment of him as an intelligent being. I acknowledge the spirit within and with the commitment of my human self have served as a conscientious flter for Joseph’s words in the making of this book.

My name is Henry Paradise. I am an American Indian born on a reservation at the Idaho–Nevada borderline. I am Joseph, The Instruction. The type of being that I, Joseph, belong to is not known to any race of people. We spirits are God’s children all over the world. We create humans and live in them, dormant. We children have a beginning but where we do not know. Millions and millions of years ago, we were created. This page is intentionally blank. We do not have a body, we have nothing you can see or measure, we are only a vibration, we are a word.

There was nothing but dark space when we spirits were frst created, when we came into being. We spirits are pure energy, a vibration of thought. The First Law of the Whole Universal System is the vibration. The spirits emphasized their intellect with their own tools.
