All rights reserved. www.vicon-security.com 2 | Installing Hotfix 1.0 General Vicon has released a hotfix for users running Valerus 20R2 and going through a Windows update to Win10 version 2004. This hotfix is provided on Vicon’s website with the Valerus version 20R2 software. If you are running another version of Valerus, it is not necessary to run this hotfix. The Issues and Fixes The issue involves an update that was made to Internet Explorer 11 that conflicts with the Client portion of Valerus 20R2. This combines with running version 20R2, preventing the ability to log into Valerus from the upgraded PC; after entering the login details, the system does not proceed but will stay stuck in the log in process screen. The hotfix, which is run on the Application Server (also the web server for Valerus), updates the Valerus Client files and corrects the conflict. As Valerus is a browser-based system, there is no need to install it on every Client PC; simply Refresh the browser after the update to the Application Server. Versions Requiring the Hotfix: If you are running older Valerus versions 20R1 or 18R2U1, this issue is not going to impact your system, as the conflict is with Valerus version 20R2. If your system is running Valerus version 20R2 and your system does not go through the Windows update, this issue is not going to impact it, as the conflict is only after the update. If your system is going through a Windows update to Windows 10 version 2004 and you are running Valerus version 20R2, you should install this hotfix on your Application Server. In the next Valerus release (version 20.3), we will include the hotfix with the main VMS installation, so the conflict will not exist. Installing the Hotfix Follow the steps below to install the Valerus Hotfix 1.0 for Windows 2004 upgrade 1. Download the Hotfix zip file from Vicon’s website, vicon-security.com. Unzip the file on the Application Server PC. Run the hotfix by right clicking the hotfix and select “Run as Administrator.” Failing to run it in this manner may cause an incomplete install that will not resolve the issue. 2. The following Welcome screen displays. Click Next. Note: If you get a message about Microsoft Defender preventing an unrecognized app, click Run anyway. Installing Hotfix 1.0| 3 3. The Ready to Install screen displays, as shown below. Click Install. 4. A number of installation screens will display. Let the installation continue. 5. When the installation is complete, the Installation Completing screen displays. Click Finish to complete the installation and exit the Setup Wizard. 4 | Installing Hotfix 1.0 When the installation is complete, you can check that the installation was successful by going to the About screen on any Client PC. The version should now read 20.200.109.22417 (changed from previous version 20.200.108.22230). .

  • Installation Guide for REBOUND on Win10
Installation guide for REBOUND on win10 The open source software package REBOUND is officially only supported for macOS and Linux. In the following, we present the necessary steps to install rebound on win10. We do not guarantee 100% success. These steps have been tested using a VM on macOS. Installation on Linux and macOS The installation on macOS and Linux is straight forward and simple, especially for python. I recommend to use a virtual environment via the venv module and install the rebound module via pip. 1 python3-m venv ${HOME}/local/python3_venv Activate the virtual environment 1 source ${HOME}/local/python3_venv/bin/activate and install all important modules via pip 1 pip install matplotlib rebound numpy scipy The installation of the C version is also straight forward 1 git clone http://github.com/hannorein/rebound&& cd rebound/examples/shearing_sheet&& make&&./rebound For more information about the installation on macOS and Linux, please see the official docs. Installation on win10 Windows Subsystem for Linux First, we have to install the Windows Subsystem for Linux. The official guide can be found here. I recommend to update to Windows 10 version 2004 Build 19041 first (check your Windows version by selecting the Windows logo key + R, type winver, select OK), since you can then install WSL2 (quoting from microsoft WSL 2 uses the latest and greatest in virtualization " technology to run a Linux kernel inside of a lightweight utility virtual machine (VM)\). Before installing the subsystem, you have to enable the Virtual Machine Platform\ feature of Win10. Open a PowerShell as Administrator(!) and run " 1 dism.exe/online/enable-feature/featurename:VirtualMachinePlatform/all/norestart Restart your machine to complete the WSL installation and update to WSL 2 via the following command (again PowerShell with Administrator permissions) 1 wsl--set-default-version2 Linux distribution Now, open the microsoft store and select your favourite Linux distribution (debian!).

  • Optimizing Windows 10, Build 2004, for a Virtual Desktop Role
Optimizing Windows 10, Build 2004, for a Virtual Desktop role Written by Robert M. Smith, Program Manager, Azure Global Customer Engineering Date Created: May 12, 2020 Date Updated: July 08, 2020 Date Published: tbd Contributors: Tim Muessig, Senior Premier Field Engineer; Narklis Engler, Principal Program Manager Version 1.2 Document Change History Version Changes 1.0 Adding verbiage for Windows Virtual Desktop, and Windows 10 build 2004 specifically 1.1 Additional updates for 2004 1.2 Final pass, updated group policy, services, tasks, and added info about Storage Sense for disk cleanup. Introduction This article is intended to provide suggestions for configurations for Windows 10, build 2004, for optimal performance in Virtualized Desktop environments, including Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD). All settings in this guide are suggested optimization settings only and are in no way requirements. The information in this guide is pertinent to Windows 10, version 2004, operating system (OS) build 19041. The guiding principles to optimize performance of Windows 10 in a virtual desktop environment are to minimize graphic redraws and “effects”, background activities that have no major benefit to the virtual desktop environment, and generally reduce running processes to the bare minimum. A secondary goal is to reduce disk space usage in the base image to the bare minimum. With virtual desktop implementations, the smallest possible base, or “gold” image size, can slightly reduce memory utilization on the host system, as well as a small reduction in overall network operations required to deliver the desktop environment to the consumer. No optimizations should reduce the user experience.

  • Security Key Update for Windows 10
ONYX WHITE PAPER | ONYX WINDOWS 10 UPDATE Security key update for Windows 10 onyxgfx.com Onyx Graphics has identified a conflict between the recent Windows 10 update (version 2004) and our third-party Gemalto Security Key Driver. A simple solution is available to correct this conflict to ensure Windows updates do not interfere with your print production. The conflict can show up in different ways, including the inability to launch any ONYX product following the Windows update, the inability to run ONYX software installers, or more frequently, a bluescreen crash of Windows 10 during the first reboot after the update is applied to your computer. This Windows 10 update can affect ONYX versions 12, 18 and 19. Below is an example blue screen: In most cases, on the next reboot, Windows 10 will remove the update changes and return to a working state, but that means the Windows 10 version 2004 update was not successfully applied. The solution from the Onyx Graphics Technical Support Team is to update the Security Key Driver from Gemalto. There are two methods for updating this Security Key Driver. The first is the Graphical or GUI method, which means using Windows 10 as normal, following steps like any other program installation. The second is the Command Line method which is a little more technical, but takes less time to complete. onyxgfx.com NOTE: New product downloads are available on the Onyx Graphics website with an updated Gemalto Security Key Driver included. The following steps are intended for ONYX software that is already installed. Both methods produce the same expected result, fixing the conflict and allowing a safe Windows 10 update.
