2016 Pharmacy Visits The NCPA Government Affairs Department works with members of Congress on Capitol Hill every day to educate them on issues im- portant to us. Throughout the year, we hold pharmacy visits with our members and their elected official(s). During these visits, the elected official gets a “behind the scenes” look at daily pharmacy operations. Also, we are able to highlight the important role independent pharmacies play in their communities. When visiting a pharmacy, each member of Congress has a hands-on opportunity to speak with the hosting pharmacies, the staff, and his or her constituents who visit the pharmacy. If you are interested in hosting your member of Congress for a pharmacy visit, please contact Kendal Ann Miller in the Government Affairs Rep. Bill Posey (R-Fl-8) spoke with 17 independent Department at [email protected] or pharmacists during a roundtable in Sebastian, Fla. 703-838-2695.

Independent community pharmacies are facing many challenges. The Government Affairs staff is busy promoting a pro-pharmacy agenda: creating transparency for generic prescription drug reimbursements in government programs, requiring Medicare Part D and PBMs to report pharmacy price concessions when prescription drugs are dispensed (DIR fees), pushing to include an any will- ing pharmacy provision in federal programs, and recognizing pharmacists as health care providers under Medicare Part B. While the NCPA team will continue promoting these issues on Capitol Hill, next year will bring with a new President and Administration with their own policy priorities. See how everything from prescription drugs benefits to health care reform to Medicare/Medicaid may be impacted by positions taken by the two major party presidential candidates:

NCPA PAC Supports a Bipartisan Roster of Candidates
The NCPA PAC is proud to support the following candidates who have demonstrated their commitment to our profession, our busi¬nesses, and our patients. These candidates understand the importance of community pharmacy and together they form the foun- dation of a “Community Pharmacy Majority,” which is necessary for legislative success in Congress. We are encouraging pharmacists, their employees, and patients to support these candidates on or before Nov. 8, and to get involved in their campaigns.

VOTE We’ve been fighting for you in the halls of Congress, the courts, and state legislatures across the country. Many of you have made sacri- fices to run for elected office, spent hours volunteering for local cam- paigns or have contributed to candidates. Even if you don’t have the resources or time to donate, the most important thing you can do is vote on or before November 8.
