Councilman Kevin L. Bishop / Winter 2019

A MESSAGE FROM Councilman Kevin L. Bishop Dear Ward 2 Resident: Happy New Year to you and your family! At the start of the New Year, we have the opportunity to look at 2018 in review. Although we have many things to be thankful for in 2018, our work has just begun, to turn Ward 2 into a community of choice for Clevelanders. As many of you may have noticed, 2018 was an unprecedented year for Ward 2 as it relates to eliminating blight. Through 2018, there were 241 houses razed with another 30 slated to come down by the close of this year. In 2015, 2016 and 2017 there were a total of 216 houses demolished. More blighted houses were demolished in the first 11 months of 2018 than the previous three years combined. In Councilman Bishop 2019, you can expect another robust year of tearing down with Don Laster dangerous, dilapidated houses. at the demolition of a house on Dove Ave. Since safety is a major concern for our community, I have been working closely with the Ten Point Engage with Councilman Coalition and the Cleveland Police to enhance safety through weekly foot patrols (see article below).
