THREE FALCONS EARN CIAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS The CIAA honored three Saint Augustine’s University (SAU) student-athletes on Monday, Oct. 14, for their defensive performances in last Saturday’s 20-12 football win over Livingstone College, the Falcons’ fi rst of the season. Durrell Nash (Jr./Memphis, TN) was named CIAA Linebacker of the Week. He led both teams with 14 tackles and four pass break-ups, both season highs. Desmond Quinerly (Jr./Raleigh, NC) was selected CIAA Defensive Lineman of the Week. The defensive end totaled eight tackles, a tackle for loss and one sack. Tim Montague (Fr./Raleigh, NC) was chosen CIAA Rookie of the Week. The defensive lineman fi nished with fi ve tackles, two tackles for loss and two sacks. Overall, the SAU defense held Livingstone scoreless in the second half and allowed 10 points overall. CIAA STANDINGS Northern Division Conf. Ovr. HARRIS ON BLACK COLLEGE FOOTBALL POY AWARD WATCH LIST Bowie State 3-0 6-0 Standout linebacker Joseph Harris, Jr. (So./Jacksonville, FL) was named to the Virginia State 3-0 5-1 2019 Black College Football Player of the Year Award Watch List on Aug. 14. Forty- Virginia Union 3-0 5-1 Elizabeth City State 1-2 1-5 eight student-athletes, including 10 from the CIAA, are on the Watch List, which was Chowan 0-3 1-5 released by The Black College Football Hall of Fame. The award is presented to the Lincoln (Pa.) 0-3 0-6 most outstanding college football player from an HBCU (Historically Black College and University). His past achievements and bright future earned Harris a spot on the Southern Division Conf. Ovr. Watch List, which is on blackcollegefootballhof.org. Four fi nalists will be named on Fayetteville State 3-0 5-1 Dec. 3, 2019 and the winner will be honored on Feb. 15, 2020.
