Shaw heads 9/29 at Lincoln PA* L, 53-55 into this matchup riding the wave of a three-game winning streak, including a 10/6 WINSTON-SALEM STATE* L, 7-63 48-20 victory over the Livingstone Blue Bears last weekend. Carter named Steven Aycock as the 20th head football coach in Golden Bull history. Aycock embarks on his fourth season as the Golden Bulls’ head football coach. He led JCSU to their first postseason victory since 1969 with a victory in the 2011 Pioneer Bowl. Aycock coached the Golden Bulls to a 6-5 record in 2011; the first winning season at Johnson C. Smith University since 2006. Aycock has over 17 years of coaching experience as an assistant and offensive lineman coach. He has brought enthusiasm, passion, tenacity, and a thorough understanding of football from various aspects. “I am determined to make Johnson C. Smith football a powerhouse in the CIAA and in Division II football,” says Aycock. “I will utilize my opportunity to showcase my knowledge of the game through my coaching experiences and develop our student-athletes into better players and people.” As a part of the previous football coaching staff in 1996, Aycock helped the Golden Bulls orchestrate an impressive 7-3 record, the first time in 15 years that the program recorded a winning season. Aycock not only brings a new energy to Golden Bull football, but he symbolizes a new era at JCSU.
