ABSTRACT COS will obtain spectra of stars to study accretion flows and wind absorption features in ultraviolet emission lines. Observations of several T Tauri stars with different inclination angles with respect to the line of sight will determine the temperature distributions, flow velocities, and column densities of both inflows and outflows for these stars.

OBSERVING DESCRIPTION Two pre-main sequence stars, BP Tau (K5) & RU Lupi (G5) are studied for their accretion and wind properties, to be observed as part of the COS GTO team orbits to be executed in cycle 18.

The two stars (V=12.32, 11.4) will both be acquired using FUV spectroscopic ACQ in the PSA. ETCs were run for low-dispersion IUE spectra of the targets.

Each target will be observed for 4 orbits, 2 in G130M and 2 in G160M. Total 'Accretion in Pre-Main Sequence Stars' program for cycle 18 is 8 orbits. Observing strategy for both objects was to use the default FP-POS and the 4 shortest wavelength settings in G130M and the 4 longest wavelength setting in G160M to fill in the wavelength gaps and equalize S/N.
