Passenger services are operated by the Train Companies included in this Timetable, who work together closely to provide a co-ordinated National Rail network offering a range of travel opportunities. Details and identifi cation codes are shown on the Train Operator pages. This Timetable contains rail services operated over the National Rail network, together with rail and shipping connections with Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands. Network Rail operates managed stations however the remainder are operated on their behalf by the Train Operating Companies. Details are shown in the Station Index. Welcome to the National Rail Timetable valid from Sunday 22 May 2011 to Saturday 10 December 2011. Chiltern Railways Following a £250 million investment in improved infrastructure between Birmingham Moor Street and London Marylebone, Chiltern Railways are launching a completely revised 'Mainline' Timetable with much faster journeys to London. The fastest journey from Birmingham Moor Street to London Marylebone will now be just 90 minutes, and just 70 minutes non-stop from Warwick Parkway. Most other main stations along the route will also have journey times around 20% faster. This new service will start on 4 September 2011. East Coast The new East Coast Timetable will bring fantastic benefi ts, such as: 19 new train services per weekday, Improved frequency and pattern of train services and many faster typical journeys New services will be introduced, including: A return service from London King’s Cross and Harrogate, a return service between Lincoln and London King’s Cross and a new ‘Flying Scotsman’ early morning service from Edinburgh to London King’s Cross in just four hours, stopping at Newcastle only and arriving in London at 0940. East Midland Trains Newark Northgate to Lincoln and Grimsby services will be altered to accommodate the changes on the East Coast Mainline. Sunday services on the Robin Hood Line will only run from Nottingham to Mansfi eld Woodhouse and vice versa. During the period of the Timetable, the 1352 Liverpool to Nottingham service will be extended to Norwich. An additional HST (high speed train) will operate on Saturdays between Derby and Skegness at 0753. It returns from Skegness at 1126. From the start of the Timetable until 10 September 2011, the 0637 London to York Saturday service will run through to Scarborough. It will return at 1703. First Capital Connect There are no major changes to services, however weekend and evening services will continue to be affected by engineering work. Many of these alterations are included in these Timetables, however you are advised to check for additional alterations before travelling. First Great Western 1948 SX London Paddington to Cheltenham Spa will be extended to run through to Worcester Shrub Hill 0553 and 0729 Cheltenham Spa to London Paddington will start back from Worcester Shrub Hill 1706 SX London Paddington to Westbury is diverted after Pewsey, thus ceasing to call at Westbury, but now runs through to Bristol Temple Meads calling additionally at Trowbridge, Bradford-on-Avon, Bath Sap and Bristol Temple Meads 0608 SX Westbury to London Paddington starts back from Bristol Temple Meads calling additionally at Bradford- on-Avon and Trowbridge. Additional train - 1436 Fridays only London Paddington to Exeter St Davids from 8 July to 26 August 2011 inclusive calling at Reading, Westbury, Castle Cary, Taunton and Tiverton Parkway. Additional train - 1820 Fridays only Exeter St Davids to London Paddington from 8 July to 26 August 2011 inclusive calling at Taunton and London Paddington only. Additional train - 1553 SX Bristol Parkway to Bath Spa All train services between Oxford and Bicester Town will be operated by Chiltern Railways. LOROL (London Overground) There are new services as well as frequency increases between Richmond / Clapham Junction and Stratford as below: Mondays to Fridays: (Peak only: 0700-1000 and 1600-1900) Between Richmond and Stratford services increase to run to every 15 minutes Between Clapham Junction and Stratford services increase to run to every 15 minutes The above changes will result in services between Willesden Junction and Stratford increasing to run to every 7-8 minutes 2 Mondays to Fridays (Off-peak) and all day at weekends Between Richmond and Stratford services increase to run about every 15 minutes Between Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction services increase to run every 15 minutes - every other train will continue to / from Stratford The above changes will result in services between Willesden Junction and Stratford increasing to run every 10 minutes In February 2011 London Overground has extended one of its lines northbound, from Dalston Junction to Highbury & Islington via Canonbury. Services to / from both Crystal Palace and West Croydon have been extended to Highbury & Islington (running daily on each branch up to every 15 minutes) Services from New Cross branch will continue to terminate at Dalston Junction (running daily up to every 15 minutes) Services between Gospel Oak and Barking will be enhanced on Sundays, with trains running up to every 15 minutes, matching the frequency on Mondays to Saturdays Services between Watford Junction and Euston will be enhanced on Sundays, with trains running up to every 20 minutes, matching the frequency on Mondays to Saturdays NYMR (North Yorkshire Moors Railway) The heritage train operator, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, will now be running trains every day between Pickering and Whitby (apart from Summer Sundays when no track capacity is available) until the end of their daily service on 30 October 2011. Northern Rail From May 2011 Blackpool North – Liverpool Lime Street services will be extended to run through to Liverpool South Parkway on Mondays to Saturdays during the off-peak period. Customers on the Leeds – Settle – Carlisle route will benefi t from earlier through journey opportunities (Mondays to Fridays). The fi rst southbound train from Carlisle arrives in Leeds before 0845 and the fi rst northbound train from Leeds arrives in Carlisle before 0845. There are a signifi cant number of small changes to Northern services operating to and from stations on the ECML. A standard pattern is now in place between Darlington, Middlesbrough and Saltburn. Changes between York, Selby and Hull are designed to provide customers with better connections with services on the ECML north of York. ScotRail The Edinburgh to Oban direct service returns, running for an extended period this summer, all Edinburgh to Dunbar services will now call at Musselburgh and we will also launch the full Helensburgh/Milngavie – Edinburgh via Airdrie and Bathgate service. Southeastern Railway A new High Speed train service has been introduced for Maidstone West to provide the people of Maidstone with an alternative way of getting to and from London, during the morning and evening peak periods. It will also help improve the reliability and punctuality of services along the North Kent and Sidcup lines into London. The new service will consist of three departures Mondays to Fridays from Maidstone West in the morning at 0656, 0726 and 0756, with return journeys departing from St Pancras International at 1714, 1744 and 1814. The new services will call at Strood, Gravesend, Stratford International and St Pancras International with journey times of approximately 50 minutes. There will also be one service in the morning departing St Pancras International at 0625 to Maidstone West and in the evening one service departing at 1913 from Maidstone West to St Pancras International. Existing High Speed services to and from Rochester and Faversham will be diverted. To ensure that Rochester receives the same number of trains, the current Broadstairs High Speed services will call additionally at Rochester and will be increased to 12 carriages to accommodate additional passengers. 3 How to use this Timetable Some tables are self-contained (such as Table 1 London–Shoeburyness) showing every train running between any two stations on the route.

The park is located at the northern terminus of the A3290 (formerly part of the A329(M)) giving good connections from the M4, M25 and A4. Non-stop First Great Western Trains leave London Paddington approximately every 15 minutes on Saturday mornings (take a train with Reading as its first stop for fastest service). The journey takes about 30 minutes. Trains returning from Reading to London also leave every 15 minutes until at least midnight. A same- day return ticket is currently priced at £16.50 (without railcard discounts) and may be purchased from ticket machines at the station (there is usually no discount for purchasing these tickets in advance or online). However, if you purchase your ticket from the ticket office, you will be able to buy a Reading ‘plus bus’ ticket for about £2 which allows you one day’s free travel on Reading buses.
