International Journal of Sport, Exercise and Health Research 2019; 3(2): 49-53 Research Article Efficiency of The Application of Some Exercises of Tactical IJSEHR 2019; 3(2): 49-53 © 2019, All rights reserved Combinations to Improve Student's Calculation Capacity in www.sportscienceresearch.com Received: 15-10-2019 Chess Classes at HCMC University of Technology and Accepted: 04-12-2019 Education Nguyen Duc Thanh1 1 Center for Physical and Defense Education, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam Abstract Background: Through the research process, the topic has selected a number of tactical coordination exercises, then applied them to chess classes at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (UTE). Methodsː 66 male students in their 20s are divided into 2 groups of experiments (34 students) and control (32 students) all participating in the chess experiment program. Resultsː After the time of applying tactical coordination exercises, the results of tests performed by the experimental groups and control groups both increased, but the experimental group’s growth was more superior than control group’s (Means of of all 6 tests were significant difference with P <0.05). It shows that the rationality and effectiveness of the tactics coordination exercises selected to be included in the chess curriculum to improve the calculating capacity for students after a period of 4 months of experiment. Wood’s magazine Chess from the 1970s, I used to be tickled by the continuing string of apologies for the late appearance of the issue in question and the ever-optimistic assurances that time would be caught up in the coming weeks and months. The life of a chess magazine editor was obviously a never- ending battle against the clock, which to the outsider had more than a touch of humour. While I would not presume to compare my modest efforts on the ECF’s magazine with the astonishing achieve- ment of “B.H.”, I do find myself having to apologise for the late appearance of the current issue. -

English Chess Federation The Official Chess Yearbook 2010 Foreword I played chess actively for a decade, racking up hundreds of games every year. Although my fanatical playing days are behind me, the welfare of chess, both in England and internationally, is still an overriding passion for me. After my election in 2009, I was determined to use the ECF Presidency as a force for good throughout the chess community. My predecessor Gerry Walsh made enormous advances in promoting the English game and its players all over the world and I hope to be able to continue this work. However, it is no secret that the domestic situation has deteriorated recently and this will be the focus of my attention. England is still a significant chess power and I believe the casual attitude of merely 'punching above our weight' is no longer relevant. The stunning successes of the Staunton Memorial and the London Chess Classic proved the country is capable of staging magnificent world class events and it is essential we build on this in the coming years. We have an amazing array of wonderfully talented players, at every level of the game, and their passion and enthusiasm can only be inspiring for those that work to enhance the situation for chess. I cannot promise miracles but I will promise to listen to any individual, club, league or tournament that has anything to say. I am travelling extensively to meet people, within the chess community, government and business, to establish relationships which can be used in order to further the ambitions of the ECF and its members. -

FOREWORD - Phil Ehr Dear Chess Friends, Around this time last year, I wrote to some of you as Director of Junior Chess and Education, predicting that we would see more junior training events, especially for promising players seeking to compete in the offi- cial international youth championships. The prediction was partially fulfilled by independent organisations. The prediction was not fulfilled in that the ECF did not itself organise training events for these promising players. That shortfall illustrates the strengths and weaknesses of our Federation. We are inherently strong in the sense that independent organisations often take the initiative. We often show weakness when the ECF seeks to rally volunteer resources toward an ambition. Writing now as Chief Executive, I would encourage you to reflect on the positive chess activity recorded in this Yearbook and imagine how the ECF can foster more and better chess. Funding for chess was identified in the 2013 ECF elections as our primary impediment. Andrew Paulson, a majority of the ECF Council and I decided to address that funding shortfall by aiming to update the image of chess and attract significant sponsorship of English chess. Progress toward those goals has been made, but sadly for a variety of reasons, those ambitions are now delayed as Council meets in April to consider Mr Paulson’s continuation as our President. The internal conflict exposed by Board proceedings challenges the premise that the lack of fund- ing is our primary problem. Many of us see that basic aspects of governance must be addressed alongside, if not prior to soliciting outside funding.
