Eliza Shaddad Blossom PR 2021 Eliza Shaddad releases new single ‘Blossom’ on 23rd March 2021 LISTEN / VIDEO Embargoed until 23rd March 2021 Photo credit: Jodie Canwell Artist: Eliza Shaddad Single: Blossom Release: 23rd March 2021 For fans of: Laura Marling, Fenne Lily, Liza Anne “Nakedly confessional.” - The FADER “Extremely talented…” - Rolling Stone “Sing me out of my misery any day, Eliza” - NYLON “Shaddad’s voice is mesmerising.” - The Sunday Times Critically acclaimed Sudanese-Scottish artist Eliza Shaddad returns to the fore with the release of exquisite new single Blossom, out on 23rd March 2021 via Rosemundy Records/Wow and Flutter. Blossom is a love letter to growth, renewal, and hope. A song which perfectly encapsulates that timeless yearning for longer days and the sweet thrill of feeling them begin. Eliza's crystalline voice flows elegantly and effortlessly through the music, giving us a glimpse of her softer side and reminiscent of the likes of Joni Mitchell and Laura Marling. Born from a burgeoning love of house plants and sixties Sudanese records floating through the house, the accompanying video is an intimate window into Eliza’s past few months. Recorded at home in Cornwall with producer Ben Jackson Blossom features a beguiling hint of Eliza exploring new soundscapes - delving into classical guitar and gracefully introducing musical elements from her Sudanese heritage; characteristic strings, oud, and a jubilant ululating traditional Sudanese call. This is a tiny taste of the wealth of music to come this year from Eliza; and the beginning of a journey which celebrates the full spread of her musical range and writing prowess, sprawling from the introspective folk-influenced sound of Blossom, to the raw riff-driven epic scope of her cinematic trademark sound. In 2021 Eliza is set to undertake an ambitious live project with the support of Arts Council England and Jerwood Arts, which builds on a full year of weekly Instagram livestreams and collaborations which have been viewed in excess of 250,000 times. Eliza’s latest single Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood, a cover of one of her favourite artists Nina Simone, is currently climbing the charts on iTunes and Shazam, and provides end credits for TV series Behind Her Eyes on Netflix. Raised across seven countries, Eliza Shaddad is the daughter of a Sudanese astrophysicist and a Scottish diplomat. A multi-linguist with a philosophy degree, Eliza studied Jazz at London’s Guildhall before self- producing her first EP, recorded with Clean Bandit’s Jack Patterson. Eliza has released three EPs and one LP working with independent UK labels Beatnik Creative, Big Indie, and German label FerryHouse Productions and her work has received critical acclaim from The Times, The Independent, The Fader, Rolling Stone, Stereogum, MOJO Magazine, Refinery 29, CMU, Clash, The Skinny, She Shreds and Bandcamp Daily. Radio highlights include support from Lauren Laverne, Huw Stephens, and Zane Lowe, and airplay across BBC Radio, Radio X, Absolute, NTS and internationally Apple Music 1, Radio Eins, KCRW and Triple J. Eliza has appeared on ITV News and Sky News this year speaking about the music industry, and featured centrally in Sky Arts’ 2020 documentary Culture Interrupted. Eliza has also previously been included in Spotify’s New Music Friday, Alternative Generation Feelgood/Ultimate Indie, Indie Radar, Van Life, The Stress Buster, Alternative Generation, and Believe the Hype playlists. Her reputation for powerful live shows has seen her touring extensively, playing dates in the UK, EU, and USA with the likes of Bedouine, Kae Tempest, Lucy Rose, Oh Wonder, Max Jury, Keane and Turin Brakes. She has collaborated with award-winning poet Anthony Anaxagorou, contemporary jazz group Hansu-Tori, and Grammy-winners Clean Bandit, and is a founding member of ten-year-strong female arts collective Girls Girls Girls, which works to empower women within the arts, and to raise awareness and funding for the anti-female genital mutilation charity Orchid Project. Blossom is out 23rd March 2021 via Rosemundy Records/Wow and Flutter. Ellie Sorensen - PR Manager A Badge of Friendship E: [email protected] T: 07881 370 920 URL: www.abadgeoffriendship.com.

Shakespeare’s Globe is proud to have played a part in those celebrations in 197 countries and led the festivities in London, where Shakespeare wrote and worked. Our Globe to Globe Hamlet tour travelled 193,000 miles before coming home for a final emotional performance in the Globe to mark the end, not just of this phenomenal worldwide journey, but the artistic handover from Dominic Dromgoole to Emma Rice. A memorable season of late Shakespeare plays in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse and two outstanding Globe transfers in the West End ran concurrently with the last leg of the Globe to Globe Hamlet tour. On Shakespeare’s birthday, 23 April, we welcomed President Obama to the Globe. Actors performed scenes from the late plays running in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at Southwark Cathedral, a service which was the only major civic event to mark the anniversary in London and was attended by our Patron, HRH the Duke of Edinburgh.

  • Mima Press Release Coming up on the Evening of Saturday 27
mima Press Release 22 September 2014 mima live, Saturday 27 September 2014 – Monotony, Brown Brogues, Milky Wimpshake & Sorry Escalator Coming up on the evening of Saturday 27 September is the return of mima live, a free event which is a part of the town-wide Middlesbrough Live. With a line up which includes BBC Radio 6 Music darlings Monotony, alongside Brown Brogues, Milky Wimpshake & Sorry Escalator, this year’s event should be not one to miss. These bands have been handpicked by our mima Live curator Nicky Peacock as the best up and coming acts of this year – apart from Milky Wimpshake who have always been brilliant. Monotony is a four piece punk outfit from London and Brighton who are taking BBC Radio 6 Music by storm, getting daily plays on the Marc Riley show. Monotony is a side project of the garage racket band Sauna Youth in which they all switched instruments. Their glorious garage racket has caught the attention of Colin Newman of iconic post-punk band Wire, who cites them as his new favourite band. They are joined by Manchester’s Brown Brogues - two men making savage garage sounds with drums, guitar and primitive hollering. They wrestle, they swear and they spectacularly outshone indie superstars The Kills on a recent US tour - your mum wouldn't like them but we do. Next in the line-up is one of the UKs best loved indie pop bands Milky Wimpshake. Forever relevant, they continue to be purveyors of ‘love songs for punk rockers’. Fronted by Pete Dale, of the much-loved and legendary DIY label Slampt – he ruled the Newcastle scene for most of the ‘90s and introduced us to bands such as Kenickie (featuring broadcaster Lauren Laverne), Yummy Fur (featuring members of Franz Ferdinand) and Pussycat Trash.
