Critically acclaimed Sudanese-Scottish artist Eliza Shaddad returns to the fore with the release of exquisite new single Blossom, out on 23rd March 2021 via Rosemundy Records/Wow and Flutter.

Blossom is a love letter to growth, renewal, and hope. A song which perfectly encapsulates that timeless yearning for longer days and the sweet thrill of feeling them begin. Eliza's crystalline voice fows elegantly and efortlessly through the music, giving us a glimpse of her softer side and reminiscent of the likes of Joni Mitchell and Laura Marling. Born from a burgeoning love of house plants and sixties Sudanese records foating through the house, the accompanying video is an intimate window into Eliza’s past few months.

Recorded at home in Cornwall with producer Ben Jackson Blossom features a beguiling hint of Eliza exploring new soundscapes - delving into classical guitar and gracefully introducing musical elements from her Sudanese heritage; characteristic strings, oud, and a jubilant ululating traditional Sudanese call. This is a tiny taste of the wealth of music to come this year from Eliza; and the beginning of a journey which celebrates the full spread of her musical range and writing prowess, sprawling from the introspective folk-infuenced sound of Blossom, to the raw rif-driven epic scope of her cinematic trademark sound. In 2021 Eliza is set to undertake an ambitious live project with the support of Arts Council and Jerwood Arts, which builds on a full year of weekly Instagram livestreams and collaborations which have been viewed in excess of 250,000 times. Eliza’s latest single Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood, a cover of one of her favourite artists Nina Simone, is currently climbing the charts on iTunes and Shazam, and provides end credits for TV series Behind Her Eyes on Netfix.

Raised across seven countries, Eliza Shaddad is the daughter of a Sudanese astrophysicist and a Scottish diplomat. A multi-linguist with a philosophy degree, Eliza studied Jazz at London’s Guildhall before self- producing her frst EP, recorded with Clean Bandit’s Jack Patterson. Eliza has released three EPs and one LP working with independent UK labels Beatnik Creative, Big Indie, and German label FerryHouse Productions and her work has received critical acclaim from The Times, , The Fader, Rolling Stone, Stereogum, MOJO Magazine, Refnery 29, CMU, Clash, The Skinny, She Shreds and Bandcamp Daily. Radio highlights include support from Lauren Laverne, Huw Stephens, and Zane Lowe, and airplay across BBC Radio, , Absolute, NTS and internationally Apple Music 1, Radio Eins, KCRW and Triple J.
