Lowell Catholic’s current capital campaign to support our new academic build- ing needs you! Lowell Catholic strives each day to bring out the giftedness of its students. Our students are able to discover who they are and build their resume and character for their future endeavors. As a member of the Lowell Catholic par- ent family, you were able to witness first hand your student’s positive growth and success. In order to continue to be the school of choice for families from through- out the Merrimack Valley, we look to you for help. As a member of the Lowell Catholic family, your support is critical to the success of this campaign. We invite you to join fellow Leadership Circle parents by making a minimum donation of Parent $2,500, which can be pledged over time. LEADERSHIP CIRCLE All Parent Leadership Circle donors will be recognized on our perpetual plaque, which will be prominently displayed in the new academic building. As a member of this leadership circle, you will be invited to our yearly social event that will keep you informed of LC initiatives and allow you to participate in events and commit- tees that interest you. Lowell Catholic consistently strives to offer unique aca- demic opportunities. Hands-on service based learning is accomplished through engaging with off campus part- nerships, developing field studies and encouraging com- munity service learning.

COLLEGE PARTNERSHIPS The Guidance Department and School Administrators at Lowell Catholic work dili- gently to expand academic offerings and opportunities for LC students. By partner- ing with local colleges including Middlesex Community College and UMass Lowell, students are able to explore future ambitions through college level dual enrollment courses. As these partnerships mature, LC now offers courses for college level credits as part of its curriculum.

SENIOR SERVICE As part of the Community Service Learning Program, graduating seniors are given a week-long opportunity to explore professional development through placement at lo- cal organizations. During Senior Service Week, students work a 40 hour professional work week by volunteering and building community partnerships. Lowell Catholic’s Community Service Learning Program requires a minimum of 100 service hours from each LC graduate. Annually, the senior class completes over 5000 hours of commu- nity service beginning freshman year right up through graduation. The service hours they perform not only contributes greatly to our surrounding community but also fos- ters a culture of service that will continue to develop beyond high school.

WINTER INTERSESSION 2018-2019 marked the first year Lowell Catholic implemented the Winter Intersession Program. By moving mid-terms before the holiday break, several enrichment opportu- nities and off-campus field trips were able to be scheduled with little interruption to the students’ regular courses. 8th grade students traveled to MIT to experience hands-on problem-solving in a laboratory setting. The Senior Leadership Program conducted middle school retreats while the sophomore and junior classes also participated in retreats on campus. Science students traveled to the Paul S. Russell, MD Museum of Medical History & Innovation at Mass General Hospital as well as to Organix Chem- istry Laboratories. 9 LC: A Global View

Educational internships at LC. There’s more than a new sidewalk connecting the LC campus from the high school to the elementary grades. As the interaction between the grades continues to evolve, high school students have found several opportunities on campus for hands-on learning through internship experiences.

While some high school students work with elementary crusaders through com- munity service learning hours in the extended day care program, others, seeking a career in early childhood education, work alongside teachers learning about instruction, social-emotional development and curriculum planning. Like many other internship opportunities on campus, the teaching internship helps guide the student’s understanding of a certain career path and helps students make informed decisions about the selection of college programing in the years ahead.
