Hora Chakra Calculating Hora What is Hora? Hora is the smallest unit of time which is considered for selection of Muhurta or auspicious time. It is used to determine the quality of time which spans a very short duration, approx 60 minutes. The English word hour has been derived from Hora. Since we have 24 hours in a solar day (Vedic day commences from sunrise to sunrise while English day starts from midnight to midnight), therefore we have 24 Horas during one solar day on Earth. Each Hora has is lorded by a certain planet. The lordship is based on a chronological sequence of the planetary speeds going from fastest first (Chandra/Moon) to slowest (Shani/Saturn) with the exception of first Hora of the week being lorded by Sun as a respect since it is the lord of the Solar system and significator of Life or Srushti. If we consider the heliocentric system of planets and consider the speeds of planets the Moon has the highest speed among all (Seven only considered). Now, list all these planets based on their speeds and distances from Sun, we get the order as Moon, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. Although Moon is a satellite of Earth but in Vedic astrology it is a planet as it moves, and a necessary condition for heavenly body to qualify as a planet is that it must be a moving object. Hence in Geocentric system which is the basis of Vedic astrology observation of planets and their movements, Moon replaces Earth. Moreover, moon has a major influence in sustenance of human life and thus gets extreme importance in the Vedic Astrology system. Hora Chakra A sequential matrix arrangement of lord of different horas in a day over a week is known as a Hora Chakra. It is 24X7 or vice-versa matrix. The Hora Chakra can be easily used by anybody to plan her day in the most beneficial manner optimizing planning of events for the day (Bucket List discharged in the best way). The Hora Lord offers its focused energy of the day during that particular time segment. Tasks or decisions and events in alignment with the subject matter relevant to the particular planet receive a special blessing from that planet. So for example, if you want to discuss an important matter with your Boss, then hora of Sun is best similarly for personal matters and romance hora of Venus will be relevant. The Hora lord provides a special boost to the subject matter of it’s domain, hence if one gets congruency of event planned with the relevant Hora, the results can be ‘tweaked’. The Hora Chakra is thus a great tool to get successful in day to week to year or say life by optimization and avoiding the minefield or adverse timings. This is a general way of using the Hora. For more customized and personalized use, one should consult a learned astrologer to ascertain particular planets giving success in profession, health, relationship from one’s horoscope. This could then be applied or suitably aligned with the Horachakra to get success. Calculating Hora A vedic solar day starts from sunrise and lasts till next sunrise. The total time elapsed is called Kul-mana (Total time available in one solar day) and is generally around 24 hours. Kul Mana is made up of two parts i.e Din-Mana (Sunrise to sunset) and Ratri-Mana (Sunset to next sunrise). There are 12 horas in the Dina- Mana and 12 in Ratri-Mana. Dina or Day Hora: Divide Dina-Mana (sunrise to sunset) by 12. Ratri or Night Hora : Divide Ratri-Mana(sunset to sunrise) by 12. For example: You have to find the shubha hora for wearing an Emerald on a Wednesday, so here is how you go. o Check the local sunrise and sunset time from internet or local almanac / panchanga. Calculate Dina and ratri mana as above and also the horas. This will give you the average time of each day or night hora. o Go to Hora Chakra and you will see that the first Hora is of Mercury then moon, Saturn and so on so forth. Since Emerald is the gemstone of Mercury so we will use the hora of mercury for auspicious time. The first Hora on Wednesday is ruled by Mercury. Therefore the auspicious time will be from Sunrise to (Sunrise + Average Dina/day Hora). Say the sunrise is 6 am and the average day hora is 55 minutes, then the auspicious time to wear Emerald in morning is 6 am to 6.55 am. One can make similar calculations for evening or night hora depending upon one’s requirement. Similarly we can ascertain auspicious time for any event by using the above method. Day time Horas - From Sunrise to Sunset Weekday 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th 11th 12th hora hora hora hora hora hora hora hora hora hora hora hora Sunday Sun Ven Mer Moon Sat Jup Mars Sun Ven Mer Moon Sat Monday Moon Sat Jup Mars Sun Ven Mer Moon Sat Jup Mars Sun Tuesday Mars Sun Ven Mer Moon Sat Jup Mars Sun Ven Mer Moon Wednesday Mer Moon Sat Jup Mars Sun Ven Mer Moon Sat Jup Mars Thursday Jup Mars Sun Ven Mer Moon Sat Jup Mars Sun Ven Mer Friday Ven Mer Moon Sat Jup Mars Sun Ven Mer Moon Sat Jup Saturday Sat Jup Mars Sun Ven Mer Moon Sat Jup Mars Sun Ven Night time Horas - From Sunset to Next Sunrise Sunday Jup Mars Sun Ven Mer Moon Sat Jup Mars Sun Ven Mer Monday Ven Mer Moon Sat Jup Mars Sun Ven Mer Moon Sat Jup Tuesday Sat Jup Mars Sun Ven Mer Moon Sat Jup Mars Sun Ven Wednesday Sun Ven Mer Moon Sat Jup Mars Sun Ven Mer Moon Sat Thursday Moon Sat Jup Mars Sun Ven Mer Moon Sat Jup Mars Sun Friday Mars Sun Ven Mer Moon Sat Jup Mars Sun Ven Mer Moon Saturday Mer Moon Sat Jup Mars Sun Ven Mer Moon Sat Jup Mars Notes 1. The time of Horas will vary from place to place as it depends on Sunrise time. E.g a Sun Hora on a Sunday will be different in one state of India and different in another state, similarly the Hora itself will be different in different countries due to higher difference in Longitudes and Latitudes. 2. Day Horas will be longer in Summers and shorter in winters and vice-versa. 3. Sunrise means natural sun rise as usual every day, irrespective of the clouds or weather which may shield the rays of sun. Nature of Hora The nature of Hora will be the same as the nature of the planet. Some activities are listed as under to give an idea of the nature of activities and making the appropriate choice of hora. Sun Hora (Surya Hora): . DREKKANNA - THE D/3 CHART = DRESHKHAMSA Drekkana the D-3 chart = dreshkhamsha = a graphic representation of the placement of each radix graha into one of the 36 Drekkana BPHS Chapter 6: Shloka 7-8. Dreshkamsha: "One third of a Rashi is called Dreshkamsha. These are totally 36, counted from Mesha, repeating thrice at the rate of 12 per round. The 1st, 5th and the 9th Rashi from a Rashi are its three Dreshkhamsha and are, respectively, lorded by 1. Narada, 2. Agasthya 3. Durvasha." The meaning of the word DRESH – KANA DRESH mens seeing or visualizing objects which are apparent or hidden (obscure) in nature. KANA means corner or trine (Trikona). Therefore, Dreshkana represents the varga (division) where the signs, trine to each other, convey apparent as well as hidden personality and nature (swaroopa) of the native. Quotes From: David Frawley. the Astrology of the Seers, p. 186: "In this harmonic the first 1/3 or ten degrees 00° 00'-10° 00' of any sign ruled by itself. The middle 1/3,10° 00'-20° 00', is ruled by the subsequent sign of the same element. The last 1/3, 20° 00'-30° 00', is ruled by the final sign of the same element. For example, the first 1/3 of Sagittarius is in the harmonic third of Sagittarius, the second 1/3 in the harmonic third of Aries, and the last 1/3 in the harmonic third of Leo. Hence, if Saturn is located in a birth chart at 15° 20' Sagittarius, it would be in the harmonic third of Aries.

  • Re-Defining Tajaka Varshaphal Charts (Annual Solar Return Charts)
Om Gam Ganapataye Namah Om Rishibhyo Namah Om Sree Gurubhyo Namah Re-defining Tajaka Varshaphal Charts (Annual Solar Return Charts) P.V.R. Narasimha Rao June 15, 2014 (version 1) Warning : All copyrights are reserved with author. This article cannot be reproduced in any form in part or in full, without express permission from the author. Introduction Annual solar return charts based on Sun's return every year to his exact natal position are popular in Vedic and western astrology. Divisional charts of Tajaka varshaphal never worked with any consistency for this author with Lahiri ayanamsa. The discovery of Pushya-paksha ayanamsa and refinement of the definitions of some divisional charts based on an independent interpretation of Parasara and resulting experimentation, made divisional charts work reasonably well with Tithi Pravesha charts, but not with Tajaka varshaphal charts. When this author broke from tradition, went back to a teaching of Maharshi Parasara in “Vishnu Purana” on solar years and re-defined Tajaka varshaphal chart, divisional charts of Tajaka varshaphal started showing more consistent patterns. The new definition will be shared in this article with examples. Acknowledgment The basic idea of this research was inspired by a writing of Sri K.N. Rao, albeit in a different context. In his article “Jaimini Chara Dasa – My approach – 2” in “Journal of Astrology” (please see the internet link http://www.journalofastrology.com/article.php?article_id=317 ), he wrote in 2010 November that a particular pratyantardasa ended on Aug 17 th as per his calculations and on Aug 18 th as per “Jagannatha Hora” software.

The first half of odd signs and second half of the even signs, have the Hora of the Sun, whereas the second half of odd signs and first half of even signs have the Hora of the Moon. Currently Hora chart being made by the astrologers or computer programs, displays planets in Cancer and Leo signs only, leaving other signs blank. This is not correct way of making this chart and therefore does not help in interpreting it properly. • Drekkana Varga by Ernst Wilhelm
Drekkana Varga By Ernst Wilhelm www.astrology-videos.com “Happiness, etc. with relations should be known from Drekkana.” -Sanketi Nidhi “A planet in its own decanate confers virtues".” -Saravali Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra states that the Drekkana indicates happiness with siblings, though Sanketi Nidhi expands upon this idea to include happiness with all relations. An important point, the Drekkana indicates the happiness that the native has with siblings/relations, not the life of the siblings. The life of the siblings is indicated by the relevant Bhava cusp that represents the sibling (3rd for younger, 11th for elder) and that Bhava cusp needs to be read in all Vargas – that is how the life of the siblings is to be read. What the Drekkana itself represents is the capacity that we have to work with all our relations towards mutually fulfilling goals and thus it indicates our happiness with our relations. Afflicted Bhavas and afflicted lords indicate those people in our live with whom we work less effectively; while strong Bhavas and lords in good Lajjitaadi Avasthas indicate those people with whom we work very effectively. Individuals with a good Drekkana are socially able, while those with troubled Drekkanas are socially unable. Remember that the 3rd Bhava, for which the Drekkana is the important Varga, represents an individual’s social ability. The social ability represented by the Drekkana and by the 3rd Bhava is initially developed through the association with siblings, and so ability with siblings is an important aspect of the Drekkana, but the Drekkana is not limited to our social ability with just siblings, it reflects our social ability with everyone that we come across.

Om Gam Ganapataye Namah Om Rishibhyo Namah Om Sree Gurubhyo Namah Parasara's Hora Chart Decoded: Uma-Shambhu Hora P.V.R. Narasimha Rao August 26, 2012 Warning : All copyrights are reserved with author. This article cannot be reproduced in any form in part or in full, without express permission from the author. Introduction Maharshi Parasara taught many divisional charts at the beginning of his masterpiece “Brihat Parasara Hora Sastram”. Hora chart is one of those charts. Parasara recommended seeing wealth in that chart. Computation of hora chart has become controversial. This is what Parasara said: sUyeRNÖaeivR;me razaE sme tiÖprItkm!, iptríNÔhaereza deva> sUyRSy kIitRta>. razerx¡ ÉveÏaera taítuiv¡zit> Sm&ta>, me;aid tasa< haera[a< pirv&iÄÖy< Évet!. süryendvorviñame räçau same tadviparétakam| pitaraçcandrahoreçä deväù süryasya kértitäù|| räçerardhaà bhaveddhorä täçcaturviàçatiù småtäù| meñädi täsäà horäëäà parivåttidvayaà bhavet|| Literal meaning : Lords of horas are Sun and Moon in odd signs and reverse in even signs. The deities corresponding to lunar and solar horas are pitris (ancestral manes) and gods. Half of a sign is a hora. There are 24 of those remembered. Starting from Aries, two cycles of horas occur. Current Interpretations View 1: Some scholars interpret Sun and Moon being the lords of horas to mean that planets occupy either Cn or Le in hora chart and no other signs. Weakness : This interpretation ignores the expression “parivritti dwayam”. There are no two cycles starting from Ar here. More fundamentally, a chart that uses only two signs always is not too logical. View 2: Some scholars interpret Sun and Moon being the lords of horas to refer to day strong signs (Sun) and night strong signs (Moon).

ABSTRACT In Vedic astrology the subject of longevity has been exhaustively dealt in a very detailed manner. To start with, the life of a person is broadly classified Balarishta Yoga, Madhyarishta Yoga, Yogarista Madhyayu Yoga, Deerghayu Yoga and Purnayu Yoga or Amithayu. For finding out this there are various combinations or yogas for each category of life length which have been mentioned in ancient Vedic Astrology texts and have stood the test of time. But some of the malefic yogas may affect adversely such yogas and make the person die with some problems. Here the idea of the researcher is to provide a short note on such malefic yogas.
