Tom Morello, Warren Haynes, Regina Spektor, Paul Simon, and many more took to ‘The World On Stage’ prior to the 2016 Global Citizen Festival.

The inaugural event took place at NYU’s Skirball Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, September 22nd. The event brought together activists, campaigners, Global Citizens, partners, and friends to hear about the issues and stories behind our work and witness commitments from governments and businesses that will improve the lives of the world’s poor. And of course, enjoy some incredible live music! Paul Simon presented the first-ever George Harrison Global Citizen Award to the late Beatle posthumously. Harrison’s deep commitment to promoting world peace and ending poverty reflects the goals of Global Citizen.

On September 22, 2016, Global Citizen hosted the first-ever Youth Advocates Symposium in collaboration with Microsoft at the Microsoft Technology Center in Times Square.

Young people are doing crucial, trailblazing work around the world and Global Citizen wants to support exceptional youth advocates who are catalyzing progress around the Global Goals for Sustainable Development.

Global Citizen seeks to pioneer a long-term program that creates a global network of Global Citizen Youth Advocates, and provides them with the opportunities, mentorship and resources to help build each campaigners’ expertise and know-how to grassroots organize, create and share communications content, shift the media debate and pressure decision- makers to take action.

On Saturday, September 24th, the 2016 Global Citizen Festival was held on the Great Lawn of New York’s . The Festival saw world and business leaders come together to commit to the Global Goals for Sustainable Development.
