[EN] Magazine Beach Polo 2021 WELCOME BEACH POLO IS BACK! Hello everyone, On behalf of the BIWPA team, we want to warmly welcome all the teams participating in this 4th edition of the Beach Water Polo Costa Brava - Palamós. Throughout the year, we organize all kinds of programs related to water polo, for all ages and levels, but undoubtedly the Beach Polo is one of our favorite events. This season we are even more excited, especially after we had to cancel the tournament in 2020. We are looking forward to plenty of fun, water polo, party, sunshine and good vibes on the beach. It is a true honor for us to return to Palamós and the amazing Costa Brava for another year. In this fourth edition, we're welcoming more Catalan and national teams than ever, and we are very happy about that. Although still conditioned by the pandemic, we are also delighted to have teams from France, the Netherlands and Lebanon. We are sure that this will be a great kick-off for the 21-22 water polo season. We hope you have a great time and enjoy the great atmosphere. Good luck to all players! Joel Esteller Project Manager - 1 - MAP BEACH POLO MAP Below you can see an aerial representation of how the entire competition area and the village will be distributed during the event. A few meters from the water, the three competition tents will be located, one in front of each of the three playing fields. Further inside, you will find the village area, with bar service, music (Red Bull car and DJ), chairs, tables, umbrellas and BIWPA shop. LOCATIONS VENUE: PLATJA GRAN Passeig del Mar, 30, 17230 Palamós, Girona How to get there >> HOTEL ONA PALAMÓS Carrer de la Provença, 5, 17230 Palamós, Girona How to get there >> HOTEL MARINA Av. Onze de Setembre, 48, 17230 Palamós, Girona How to get there >> - 4 - GENERAL INFORMATION TOURNAMENT KICK-OFF The 4th edition of the Beach Water Polo Costa Brava Palamós starts on Friday 27th at 15h with the first three games. The teams must arrive at least one hour before their first game in the village area in order to manage the check-in at the hotel and the pick-up of the 'welcome packs'. ARRIVAL We recommend to the teams that the first thing they do when arriving in Palamós is to check-in at their hotel. It will be enough to say the name of the team at the hotel reception. They will have a room list with all the team members. After check-in, the teams can go to the village area to collect the welcome packs and get ready to start the competition. BAR SERVICE / DINNER / NIGHT Bar service will be available during all the event. Friday and Saturday from 18h to 20h there will be happy hour. The two dinners on Friday and Saturday night will be held with all the teams together in the village area and will start around 20.15h. After dinners, we will extend until 00.30h with music by a Red Bull DJ and drinks. It is forbidden to consume drinks and/or food from other establishments in the village/bar area. - 5 - COVID-19 PROTOCOL PARTICIPANTS In order to reduce the risk of contagion during the event, it will be mandatory for each participant to provide the organization with one of the following two documents: 1.EU COVID Digital Certificate with the complete vaccination schedule. 2.In case of not having the vaccination certificate, the participant must show a certificate proving a negative test. A PCR test (72h before) and a rapid antigen test (48h before) are both valid. A person in charge of each team must send the documents in a single file that contains the information of all the members to the email [email protected]. DURING THE EVENT As the entire event takes place in an open space and outdoors, the use of a mask will not be mandatory as long as it is possible to maintain a safety distance of 1.5 meters. During the dinners, each team will be assigned a table marked with a sign. Only one person in charge of each team may come to pick up the food to avoid crowds and queues, while the rest of the players wait seated at the table. After the dinners, most of the tables and chairs will remain in place. The use of the mask will be mandatory in cases that distance cannot be maintained: for example, when ordering at the bar. If there are no last minute changes, there is no curfew in Palamós, although the beaches close at 1:00, so it will be important to respect the local rules. - 6 - SUSTAINABILITY REDUCING SINGLE-USE PLASTICS In collaboration with Aigües de Palamós and Euphralia - Boirón, this year we are reducing part of the single-use plastic in the Beach Polo. We replaced the plastic water bottles for water fountains that will be available to all participants at the venue. Each player will get a reusable bottle available to fill as many times as needed to stay hydrated. RESPONSIBLE COFFEE Did you know that 19 million coffee capsules are used every day? Together with Cafès Novell, we are committed to responsible consumption, so that all the coffee served at the Beach Polo will be made from compostable no-waste capsules. We do our bit to help reduce the impact on the environment! Organic/ecological coffees to enjoy and share a cup of coffee, while still caring for the environment. 0 waste for the planet and 0 waste for you. Below are the most important aspects to keep in mind: Every team will compete with 5 players (4 field players + goalkeeper). Games will be played with ball size 4 woman. The fields have marks for 2 and 5 meters, the latter for the penalty area. Substitutions are allowed at any time through the exclusion area. Games consist of two periods of 10 minutes, with a 2-minute break to change ends. Games that require a winner and finish with a tie will be decided with a 3- penalty shootout. Time outs are not allowed. There will not be possession limit, but the referee will have the freedom to call an offensive foul if one team is wasting time. Direct shot is allowed after a foul outside 5 meters. After receiving a foul outside 5 meters, the ball can be put into play and, afterwards, the player can choose to pass, fake, shot... A goal may be scored by a player after visibly putting the ball into play or directly from a corner throw. Players can commit as many exclusions as they need. The player excluded can return to the playing area right after entering visibly with the head into the exclusion area. The competition committee will decide the penalty for the players excluded with immediate substitution or with brutality. After receiving a goal, the restart of the game is immediate from the goal and doesn't require the whistle of the referee. Direct shot is allowed. - 9 - FACTS AND FIGURES COUNTRIES Spain The Netherlands France Lebanon 20 teams 1 team 2 teams 1 team NUMBERS Games Teams Participants 100 24 +220 - 10 - COMPETITION COMPETITION FORMAT The first part of the competition will divide the 24 participating teams into a total of four groups of 6 (A, B, C and D). Carrilet I Greenway Until the sixties, the Girona-Olot railway was the main transport artery for the rural districts of La Garrotxa, La Selva, and El Gironés.
