How to make the Girona HS station become a real alternative to the car for the mobility (regarding Barcelona) of the populaton in metropolitan and regional level ? How to get a better connection with the rest of the territory and consequently influencing in an increasing uptake of users in the urban and metropolitan area ? Thematic Workshop 5, Mobility, Implementation Phase I Girona 10 th – 11 th July, 2014 Page 14 Conclusions › Regarding HST -> Two types of mobility: International/national level and Regional Level › Regarding the international scale -> Impact on tourism Need of coordinated strategies between local administration, tourism sector and transport operators Girona has to look for its “own place” from Barcelona reference, taking advantage of connecting and complementig the two cities › At regional scale -> Impact on labor market The immediate and medium term impact, pivots on regional lines, mainly in relation to labor mobility. This requires thinking on how it fits with a medium sized as Girona and a powerful ambit as Barcelona › At regional scale -> Impact on regional mobility The HSL has highlighted structural and infrastructural deficits in the urban and regional mobility system due to a lack of appropriate links with the catchment area.
