GM WON THE 80TH UKRAINIAN CHAMPIONSHIP!

GM Ruslan Ponomariov won the 80th Ukrainian Chess Championship with final result of 8.5 points after 11 rounds.

With one point less his first runner up is GM . Third in the ranking is GM with final result of 7 points.

Twelve grand masters participated in the strongest Championship ever in the history of independent . The ELO rating of the players was between 2754 and 2558. The organizer of the Championship is the Ukrainian Chess Federation, the Chief- Arbiter was IA Leonid Bodankin.

The prize fund of the tournament was 50 000 EURO.

HIGHER LEAGUE MEN’s 64TH RUSSIAN CHAMPIONSHIP’2011

GM won the Higher League Men’s 64 Russian Championship’2011with 8 points from possible 11. On the second place is GM Artyom Timofeev. Third is GM Alexander Galkin. They both have gained 7.5 points.

The tournament was played in 11 rounds according to the Swiss system in the town of Taganrog. The prize fund was 62.300 EURO. Chief-Arbiter was IA Victor Berezin.

MAGNUS CARLSEN WON BAZNA KINGS’2011

The Norwegian GM won Bazna Kings. The 5th edition of the strong tournament was held on June 11-22. 2011 in Medias, Romania. First runner up became the Russian grand master after a draw in the last round against the leader Carlsen. They both finished with final result of 6.5 points. The silver was taken by the GM from USA .
