Parish Paths Initiative Activities

1. PURPOSE OF REPORT

To inform the Forum regarding current Parish Path Initiative (PPI) activities currently being worked on in partnership with local Parish Councils.

2. SUPPORTING INFORMATION

2.1 The objective of the Parish Paths Initiative scheme is to encourage local people to become involved in looking after and promoting their network of paths. Grants are available to member parishes and groups. These can be used in a variety of ways such as: • Additional clearance of well used and popular routes • Surfacing and drainage improvements • Signposting and waymarking improvements • Replacement of stiles with 'easy access' structures such as swing gates • Production of promotional literature • Promotion of events such as guided walks • Volunteer expenses

2.2 The fifteen parish councils within the Borough are all members of the scheme, as well as three local groups. Member parishes are , Bray, , Cox Green, , Eton, Horton, Hurley, , , , Sunninghill, , , and . The East Ramblers' Association, the East Berkshire branch of the British Horse Society and the National Trust are all members of the Initiative.

2.3 The table below details the current PPI projects being worked on with the respective Parish Councils. Not all Parish Councils have responded to date and this list will expand in due course. We aim to complete at least one project for each parish.
