Happy Potters. Joan Rule and Dave Paull of at Shoalhaven Potters ,

Membership of Get to The Point includes all residents and rate payers of Greenwell Point and the Pyree area. The Gazette has long focused on The Point. To correct this situation The Gazette visited The Shoalhaven Potters at Pyree.

The Group moved to the old school house at Pyree in In 1973. On the day of the visit we found an enthusiastic and friendly group of people with ages ranging from middle age to 90 something. Joan Rule, a founder of the group is one of the oldest and still an active potter. On the day of our visit there were, perhaps surprisingly, on- ly 3 residents of Greenwell Point—Joan Rule, Narelle Burman and Dave Paull. Surprising because the facilities are first class and a wonderful resource right on our doorstep. Members travel from as far afield as Berry and Vincentia to enjoy their craft. The studio is open every Monday from 9 am to 2 pm. Visitors and beginners are welcome. Anyone interested in learning the basic skills of pottery and working with clay may become a temporary member for 6 months to learn about pinch, slab, coil and press moulds, plus an introduction to wheel throwing and glazing. After the 6 weeks a temporary member can consider becoming a full member and have access to full facilities of the centre. Simply turn up on a Monday morning. It was balmy summers evening as I sat catching Niggers on the run out GREENWELL tide. “Can anyone handle a gaff ?” asked a gruffed voice at the end of POINT the wharf. Brad. There are a number of regular dog walkers who have expressed enthusiasm for your proposal. The enclosed questionnaire asks residents whether they are interested in a designated off leash dog area. I walk my 2 dogs each morning. It is a great start to the day to run into people on the morning walk, have a chat, and watch the dogs enjoying being off leash. Your proposal would be an opportunity to encourage people to walk their dogs and enjoy the beautiful foreshore. Councillor Greg Watson has said he would support an off leash area provided there is commu- nity support. Editor

The Men’s shed has just past 3 months since incorporation & is pro- gressing exceptionally well with many friendships & team efforts from all to make it a great place to go. A plot of land has been acquired & we have commenced raising money for a purpose built shed in Greenwell Point. The proposed new shed is expected to be built in 2016 behind the Rural Fire Service shed.

The temporary shed provided thanks to Gary & Helen at 16 Adelaide Street has now been transformed into a work area for productive ac- tivities as well as space those who just want to sit & discuss whatever pleases them.

The shed is open from 9am until 3pm on Tuesday & Thursday & all newcomers are welcome. Thursday’s lunch is usually a BBQ with support from community businesses providing meat, fresh seafood & chicken. Thanks to Bryce, Jim Wild & Steve from Bay & Basin Chickens. The fee to join is $30 which covers all insurances & $5 to- wards the running of the shed.

We currently have 27 financial members & several others in the pro- cess of joining. We have applied for several grants to assist in raising the $60,000 we require to build a 12mx12m shed & have started to raise money from donations & the sale of items we are making, or for community projects undertaken where a donation would be appreci- ated.

Donations of hand tools, materials and monetary donations are wel- come (donations over $500 are tax deductible).

We urgently need additional storage space. If you have some spare room in your shed or garage to store equipment while we wait for the permanent shed to be built please let us know. Contact Bob Williamson (President) 0438 268 391
