MANCHESTER INDEPENDENT ECONOmiC REVIEW Reviewers’ report About the Review The Manchester Independent Economic Review provides a detailed and rigorous assessment of the current state and future potential of Manchester’s economy. It contains a rich seam of evidence to inform the actions of public and private sector decision-makers so that Manchester can achieve long-term sustainable economic growth and boost the performance of the national economy. An ambitious agenda-setting report pulls together the seven strands of analysis, output from the comprehensive economic baseline study, as well as incorporating the extensive intelligence gathered from a year long consultation across the public, private and voluntary sector, which will be the foundation of an ambitious economic strategy so that the world-class research the Review has produced is used to drive Manchester’s aspirations forward. -

Bike Parking and Facilities
Bike Parking and Facilities We have bike parking facilities at each of our hospital sites, please use the registration link below in order to receive location details. They usually consist of covered bike pods or access to covered bike stands where you register and use the lock provided or your own lock to secure your bike and equipment inside. We also have shower and changing facilities at certain locations and departments. In addition, do check with your local ward or department to see if they have lockers or changing rooms available. You need to register in order to gain ID badge authorisation or access codes to use some of our bike facilities, but there is no charge for their use. Case Study: DataGM Type: Website Organisation(s): GM local authorities, Open Data Manchester, GMFRS Tags: open data, process, standards, website This was the earliest attempt in Greater Manchester to create a simple datastore that would hold important data from across the region, focussing on government transparency and providing better public services. The result was a highly functional datastore with which brought together data from a wider range of data publishers, and included a total of 371 datasets. It was ultimately not successful in creating a lasting basis for open data cooperation and access in Greater Manchester. However, it provides interesting lessons on how to proceed with future projects. Background DataGM was launched in February 2011, inspired by successful projects in North American cities, such as Track DC (now Open Data DC) in Washington, D.C. and Baltimore City Stats (now Open Baltimore). It was conceived as a one-stop-shop for key datasets on all aspects of city life. The programme emerged through a partnership between Trafford Council and the digital culture agency Future Everything. This began in 2009 when the Manchester Innovation Fund supported Future Everything to build open data innovation architecture in Greater Manchester, funded by NESTA, Manchester Council and the North West Regional Development Agency (now closed). Future Everything and Trafford Council in turn partnered with a wide range of data publishing organisations. These included local authority partners, as well as Greater Manchester Policy, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (now Transport for Greater Manchester), and the North West Strategic Health Authority. -

External assessments can be in the form of a full external assessment, or a self- assessment with independent external validation. 1.4 The North West Chief Audit Executives’ Group (NWCAE) has established a ‘peer-review’ process that is managed and operated by the constituent authorities. This process addresses the requirement of external assessment through ‘self-assessment with independent external validation’ and this report presents the summary findings of the review carried out on behalf of Blackpool Council.
