Welcome, introduction and Housekeeping Michelle thanked all for attending the VCSE Market Place networking forum, including Cheslyn Hay Community Choir for singing some Christmas Carol’s and Rugeley Community Church for the Venue and Mince Pies. 2. Matters Arising Please note that in future Agenda’s will not be sent out by Locality Staff, they will be sent out by our Central Team. Notes of Forums alongside Agendas can be found on Support Staffordshire Website: www.supportstaffordshire.org.uk. Please respond to Locality Administrators with Acceptance or Apologies (Not Central Team), this gives an idea of numbers for room layouts and Refreshments. To obtain more information about Support Staffordshire and information on Forums please register for our e bulletin through our website. 3. Presentations Helen Titterton- Places of Welcome Is a national scheme/network to encourage community points (such as church halls and community centres) to be an important point for people seeking informal support in communities. They welcome anyone to meet volunteers who run the Places of Welcome in accessible places and provide hospitality and also signposting to various organisations. It is also about encouraging people to rediscover their talents through volunteering. The number of places of welcome is growing in Staffordshire. For further information visit: www.placesofwelcome.org. 4. New Roundup. Christina Bailey – Chasewood Shared Living The facility, which is operated by The Wrekin Housing Group, includes community space, a café and extra care retirement living accommodation, along with a doctors surgery, and is a vibrant hub which welcomes members of the public, patients and residents. The Café is open 7 days a week and the venue has other rooms for Community use. Christina is offering free use of the community room to organisations or groups so long as residents living in the scheme can benefit from attending group activities. The character area covers 5,645ha lies wholly within Lichfield District boundary and to the west of Tamworth. Archaeological and Historic Documentation Archaeological work within the character area has tended to concentrate along the A5 and the M6 (Toll) roads. The information on this character area mostly comes from the HER data, whilst VCH has covered part of the area. Historic Environment Assets Summary The current understanding on the later prehistoric landscape of the character area suggests that it had mostly been heavily wooded until Bronze Age, when some clearance may have begun to take place to support a small scale pastoral economy. The earliest evidence for human activity from the character area dates to the Mesolithic period; however, this comes from flint artefacts and probably represents the presence of mobile hunting groups and transitory occupation.

Background 1.1 The A5 provides a long distance link between London and Holyhead which travels through large parts of southern and central England. Although the national importance of the route has diminished over time with the opening of the M6 and M6 Toll, the corridor still provides a key artery of movement which supports and facilitates economic activity and growth. The route also serves a range of other journey purposes such as retail and leisure trips. 1.2 In recent years there has been a growing concern from local planning authorities in the East and West Midlands regarding the performance and future role of the A5. This has led to the establishment of an A5 Transport Liaison Group with representation drawn from Local Government and the Highways Agency. This Strategy forms the principal output from the partnership, and is designed to set out a clear way forward regarding the future role and the priorities for investment in the A5 over the next 15 years.
