2017 CFL COMBINES PARTICIPANT LIST ANNOUNCED

More than 130 players to compete in three regional combines across the country

TORONTO – The Canadian Football League (CFL) announced that the League will once again host three regional combines with the participating players having one final opportunity of earning an invitation to the 2017 CFL Combine presented by adidas, which will take place in Regina, March 23-25.

The CFL will host regional combines for the fifth consecutive year, and the third-year it will host a trio of them beginning in on March 10, followed by one in on March 17 and the final regional combine in Regina on March 23.

Last year, 17 players from regional combines were extended an invitation to the CFL Combine including 10 of those players being selected in the 2016 CFL Draft.

The CFL, with input from all teams, will then invite additional players from the regional combines to the national event in Regina depending on player performance. Each regional combine will invite approximately 40 to 45 football players.

The top players eligible for the upcoming 2017 CFL Draft, as ranked collectively by the teams and the league office, are invited to attend the CFL Combine presented by adidas.

About the CFL Combine

The CFL Combine presented by adidas will take place at Evraz Place in Regina, Saskatchewan. The players will undergo medical examinations, performance, strength and speed tests, on-field football drills and team interviews over the three-day combine in front of general managers, coaches and scouts from all teams.

Regional Combine Players drafted in the 2016 CFL Draft

Last year’ regional combines accumulated an additional 17 invites to the CFL Combine, with 10 players selected in the 2016 CFL Draft including:

receiver Shaquille Johnson (Toronto Regional Combine) was selected in the fourth round, 32th overall by the BC Lions.  Kevin Jackson, a from Sam Houston State University (Toronto Regional Combine), was selected in the fourth round, 34th overall by the REDBLACKS.  Colts linebacker Alex Ogbongbemiga ( Regional Combine) was selected in the fifth round, 36th overall by the .  defensive back Brennan Van Nistelrooy (Edmonton Regional Combine) was selected in the sixth round, 48th overall by the BC Lions.  Michael Kashak, a defensive lineman from McMaster University (Toronto Regional Combine), was selected in the sixth round, 51th overall by the .  Maïko Zepeda, a defensive back from Université de Montréal (Montreal Regional Combine), was selected in the seventh round, 56th overall by the .  Nathan ’Halloran, a fullback from the University of Windsor (Toronto Regional Combine), was selected in the seventh round, 57th overall by the BC Lions.

 Jamal Kett, a receiver from Western University (Toronto Regional Combine), was selected in the seventh round, 60th overall by the .  Boyd Richardson, a defensive lineman from UBC (Edmonton Regional Combine), was selected in the eighth round, 65th overall by the BC Lions.  DJ Lalama, a linebacker from University of (Edmonton Regional Combine), was selected in the eighth round, 70th overall by the Edmonton Eskimos.

2017 CFL COMBINE SCHEDULE

Media Access Notes:

 Because of multiple arrival times on Thursday, all media interviews need to be coordinated through CFL Communications. Media is not permitted in the rooms for medical testing, measurements, flexibility and body fat percentage that day.  On Friday and Saturday, all player interviews will take place following the completion of the prospects’ testing and evaluation drills in the press conference room (‘’Sillinger’s Corner’’).  A portion of the EventPlex’s mezzanine is reserved for media covering the events. Media are asked to access the mezzanine and the press conference room through stairs located on The Co-operators’ Centre concourse.  Only CFL production and football operation cameras will be permitted on the field. No additional cameras will have access to the field to protect the safety of the players and the live broadcast. Camera operators without the appropriate accreditation will be asked to leave the field and move to a designated media area in the mezzanine.  Only accredited photographers & videographers with CFL bibs are permitted on field.  Media can access a clean feed of the CFL’s Combine broadcast (which includes the 40-Yard Dash, Bench Press and Player 1-on-1s). The footage can be acquired by using the FTP information below. There is no fee to access the footage and the only restriction is that it cannot be sold.
