FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE STATEMENT FROM U SPORTS PRESIDENT & CEO GRAHAM BROWN November 15, 2017 TORONTO (U SPORTS) – Graham Brown, President and CEO of U SPORTS, released the following statement today: “Along with football fans across the country, U SPORTS is looking forward to more exciting playoff games this weekend. A pair of contests will decide which two teams will advance to the 53rd ArcelorMittal Dofasco Vanier Cup in Hamilton on November 25. Congratulations to the Acadia Axemen on their dramatic Loney Bowl win on Tuesday, which will be remembered as one of the most exciting contests in university football history. Fans who watched the game were part of an instant classic. The action returns to Wolfville, N.S., this weekend, when Acadia and the Western Mustangs participate in the Uteck Bowl. In Calgary, a rematch of last year’s national championship will take place in the Mitchell Bowl, with the reigning Vanier Cup champion Laval Rouge et Or visiting the University of Calgary Dinos. Calgary advanced on the weekend with a breathtaking last-second 59-yard field goal — a play so exciting it has received international media coverage. Sportsnet 360 and TVA Sports 2 will broadcast both games this Saturday, so fans everywhere can see these exciting matchups.” Reminder: The Uteck Bowl will be played between Acadia and Western in Wolfville, N.S., on Saturday Nov. 18 at 12:30 p.m. ET./9:30 a.m. PT. Milton Walk of Fame Kayla J. Alexander Kayla Alexander is one of only a select few Canadian women who has played women’s professional basketball at an elite level for an extended period of time, having played for six years (at this writing) for the San Antonio Silver Stars and the Indiana Fever of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). She was a first-round WNBA draft choice in 2013. Ms. Alexander has also played professional basketball for teams in Russia, France, Australia and South Korea. She represented Canada on the National Junior and Senior Women’s teams. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree with a Dual Major in Social Studies Education and a Minor in French from Syracuse University, where she attended on a full athletic scholarship. Ms. Alexander holds several Syracuse women’s basketball records. While there, she was recognized for her academic skills as well as her athleticism. Ms. Alexander was recently accepted into the specialized business program for professional athletes at Harvard Business School. Milton Walk of Fame William C. Anderson (1853-1929) William Anderson, who was born and raised in rural Milton and received his primary education locally, founded what was, at the time, the world’s most successful manufacturer of electric cars between the years 1907 and 1939 in Port Huron, Michigan and, later, Detroit, Michigan. About 13,000 Detroit Electric-branded automobiles were produced over a 32-year period by Mr. Anderson’s company. Following the resurgence of the electric car near the end of the 21st century, the Detroit Electric Car Company was re-established in 2008 by former Lotus Engineering CEO Albert Lam and Volvo manufacturer Geely Motors of China.

CHAMPIONSHIP ROSTER Each championship team can declare up to forty-eight (48) players on the U SPORTS Eligibility Form (no later than October 1). For bowl games including Mitchell Bowl and Uteck Bowl, and the Vanier Cup, roster sizes will increase to 48 players. 2. TEAM BENCH A team can have a maximum of 70 people in the bench area including athletes, coaches and support staff.
