With more than 40 top coaches running the camp and 350 players in attendance, only the best players have been handpicked to progress into the next round of training. This is the first step for Football Alberta in selecting their Team Alberta U18 that will compete in www.footballalberta.ab.ca the Football Canada Cup this summer to be hosted in Calgary from July 15-22. The Football Cana- da Cup is a National Championship featuring provincial teams from across Canada competing at the U18 level. The selected athletes will now be expected to attend winter camps at the Foote Dome at the Uni- versity of Alberta in February and March with the final selections of the team scheduled for April 20-22 at McMahon Stadium in Calgary. At the Calgary Camp in April the Top-40 will be selected for the final roster of Team Alberta U18, while a 40 man Team Alberta U17 will also be selected, which will head to Maui in August to partake in the Pacific Challenge featuring Team Saskatche- wan U17 and local Hawaiian high schools.     Calgary-Laval rematch headlines 52nd ArcelorMittal Dofasco Vanier Cup Nov 21, 2016 By Alexander Cole, U Sports Correspondent After 13 exciting weeks of U Sports football, the 52nd ArcelorMittal Dofasco Vanier Cup, which will be held on Nov. 26 at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ont., will come down to a match between the Université de Laval Rouge et Or and the University of Calgary Dinos. The Rouge et Or, who will be appearing in their tenth Vanier Cup match since 1999, were a force to be reckoned with all season, finishing with a record of 7-1. The team was ranked first in the nation by the U Sports top 10, and placed second in the RSEQ conference, just behind their rivals, the Université de Montréal Carabins. Throughout their playoff run, Laval has demonstrated why they are one of the best teams in the nation. In the RSEQ semifinals, the Rouge et Or made quick work of the Concordia Stingers, with a 39-14 victory. The following week, the team narrowly edged the Carabins 20-17 in the Dunsmore Cup championship, thanks to a last minute trick play which saw quarterback Hugo Richard catch the game-winning touchdown. In their most recent contest on Saturday, the Rouge et Or blew out the Laurier Golden Hawks in the Uteck bowl. The Golden Hawks, who were coming off a thrilling comeback victory against the Western Mustangs in the Yates Cup, were no match for the No.1-ranked Rouge et Or, dismantling Laurier 36-6 with Richard passing for two touchdowns and rushing for one.

The Jets and Flames each have participated in one prior outdoor game, both under the Heritage Classic umbrella. Winnipeg played host to the 2016 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic at Investors Group Field, falling 3-0 to the Edmonton Oilers. Nine Jets players who appeared in that game remain with the team: Kyle Connor, Nikolaj Ehlers, Connor Hellebuyck, Patrik Laine, Adam Lowry, Josh Morrissey, Mathieu Perreault, Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler. Current Calgary goaltender Cam Talbot started for Edmonton in that contest, stopping all 31 shots he faced for the third shutout in outdoor NHL game history.     Head Coach Steve Kragthorpe Steve Kragthorpe Head Coach First Season Steve Kragthorpe, the former head coach at Tulsa University and the architect of one the nation’s most heralded rebuilding efforts, was named the 20th head football coach at the University of Louisville at a press conference on Jan. 9, 2007 in the press lounge at U of L’s Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. Named as the Golden Hurricane coach on December 18, 2002, Kragthorpe turned around the Tulsa program immediately. Prior to his arrival, Tulsa was a combined 2-21 in 2001 and 2002. However, it didn’t take Kragthorpe long to turn around the Golden Hurricane program, compiling an impressive 29-22 record and guiding Tulsa to bowl games in three of the last four seasons. “Steve has everything I look for in a head coach,” said U of L Vice President and Director of Athletics Tom Jurich. “He has a proven track record and has high integrity, great morals and values. I like that he’s a coach’s son and his father Dave is a highly decorated coach. Steve is a great fit for this community. He has produced extraordinary results in a difficult situation at Tulsa and has endeared himself to that community. Everyone I’ve spoken with nationally says Steve is a great young man and one of the top young offensive minds in the nation. We welcome Steve and his wonderful family to our community and hope they call Louisville home for a long time.” Kragthorpe takes over for Bobby Petrino, who was named the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons and ended his U of L tenure with a 41-9 record.
