A free shuttle bus service will run during the Running Day, linking the main rally site on the Beach Lawns and the town centre with the depot. Frequent heritage bus services will run on services to the depot and to Uphill. Timetables for these services are shown opposite. Mystery Tours: subject to operational conditions it is hoped to run a number of Mystery Tours during the day using Heritage Vehicles - see notice board for details.

‘TOWN CIRCULAR’ SERVICE 108

A free ‘Town Circular’ service will run throughout the day at 30 minute intervals, using selected vehicles from our active heritage fleet. The service will run from 10am until 4pm and buses will depart from the main rally site on the Beach Lawns. To add an element of mystery to the service, departures on the hour will be operated by one of our more recent acquisitions, Bristol RELL HDV626E. Departures on the half hour will be operated by buses selected at random from our heritage fleet. You never know what might turn up!

CROSVILLE HERITAGE FLEET FAE60 Bristol L5G Workshop Tower 1938 Ltd This 1938-built Bristol L5G started life with Bristol Tramways as a bus before being converted for use around the depots in Bristol. KGK529 Leyland PD2 Leyland H30/26R 1949 Transport RTW29 operated from numerous Central London garages until 1964. It was then used as a driver training vehicle until 1970 when it was sold into preservation. RTW29 is in immaculate condition inside and out. HLJ44 Bristol K6A ECW L27/28R 1949 Hants & TD895 was ordered by Hants & Dorset but spent its first year on loan to London Transport to cover a postwar bus shortage. After operating from LT’s Amersham garage, it ran for Hants & Dorset until 1966. It can be viewed in our restoration workshop and will eventually join our active heritage fleet. KFM767 Bristol L5G ECW B35R 1950 Crosville Motor Services Ltd New to Crosville Motor Services for use in North . Converted to a towing vehicle by the company before entering preservation with Chris Pratt in Weston Super Mare. Sold to Quantock Motor Services, then bought by current owner and completely rebuilt over a three year period. KFM893 Bristol L5G ECW B35R 1950 Crosville Motor Services Ltd New to Crosville Motor Services as a bus and inservice until 1967 when converted to a tow bus. Sold for scrap in 1973 but purchased by Tony Kershaw of for preservation. Passed to Quantock Motor Services Ltd, where it was subsequently restored as an express coach. Purchased by Crosville Motor Services Ltd in 2012. NFM46 Bristol LL6B ECW B39R 1952 Crosville Motor Services Ltd This is an example of the 30’ version of the Bristol L type. This particular vehicle was new to Crosville Motor Services and served with them until 1972 when it passed to dealer Martin’s of Weaverham. Subsequent history is sketchy but it was acquired from Peter Bailey of Andover in December 2011. Restoration is due to start later this year. NFM67 Bristol KSW6B ECW H30/26R 1952 Crosville Motor Services Ltd New to Crosville Motor Services Ltd as fleet number MW435 and renumbered to DKB435 in 1958. Withdrawn in 1968 and sold to Martin & Son, Dealer of Weaverham. Had 10 subsequent owners until bought by Jonathan Pratt in 2011. Curently awaiting restoration. YDL318 Bristol FS6G ECW H33/27RD 1962 This was the last rear door doubledecker to be delivered to Southern Vectis who used it on the

8 until 1978 when it was converted into a driver trainer and painted yellow. In 1992 it was reinstated as part of the Southern Vectis heritage fleet until being loaned to the Isle Of Wight Bus Museum in 1997. Sold for further service in the in 2001 and then into preservation the following year. Has been in the Crosville Motor Services Ltd fleet since 2011. 891VFM Bristol FSF6G ECW O34/26F 1962 Crosville Motor Services Ltd New to Crosville Motor Services as a conventional doubledecker. Converted in 1977 to open top and used between Llandudno, Colwyn Bay and . Withdrawn in 1984 and has since been owned by several preservationists before ownership passed to the new Crosville Motor Services Ltd in December 2011. Has recently been completely rebuilt by Busworks in . DEL893C Bristol FLF6G ECW H38/32F 1965 Hants & Dorset Delivered new to Hants & Dorset Motor Services where it spent most of its working life at . It was originally painted in Tilling Green and Cream but was repainted in Poppy Red and White in around 1973. Sold to Double Two Shirts of Wakefield for staff transport in 1981 until 1993. Purchased for preservation in 1995, since when it has had several owners, joining the Crosville heritage fleet in 2011. HDV626E Bristol RELL6G ECW B53F 1967 Southern National This Bristol RELL was delivered as fleet number 2700 to Southern National’s Weymouth depot in 1967 and, after a long history in service and preservation, has joined our other Bristol buses for further use. LEU263P Bristol VRTSL6G ECW O43/27D 1976 Bristol Omnibus New to Bristol Omnibus as a dual door doubledecker for use on City services as 5055. Converted to open top in 1986 and renumbered 8622. Passed to in 1993 for use at Weston-super-Mare until 1996 when it returned to and was then sold for service on before being repatriated. VDL613S Bristol VRTSL6G ECW O43/27D 1977 Hants & Dorset Originally registered UFX855S, this VRT only spent 2 years with its original operator Hants & Dorset before moving to Southern Vectis where it was re-registered several times. After conversion to open top, it later regained a roof before further re-conversion to its current partial open top configuration. It joined our fleet this year and usually runs as the Service 152 tour bus. 59a AEC Matador Tow Wagon 1945 Crosville Motor Services Ltd Originally built for the Royal Navy, passing to Crosville Motor Services Ltd in 1957 where it was converted into a breakdown tender over a period of 6 months. Withdrawn in 1989 and sold to Paragon Motors of Penygroes before ending up with travellers. Subsequently owned by two preservationists before being sold to Chris Pratt.

BRISTOL OMNIBUS VEHICLE COLLECTION JHT802 Bristol K6A ECW H30/26R 1946 Bristol Omnibus Vehicle Collection New to Bristol Tramways fitted with a Gardner engine for use on City routes. Re-engined and rebodied in April 195 until being withdrawn and sold to a camping specialist in 1964. Entered preservation after a long period of use as a static store. LHY976 Bristol L5G ECW B33D 1949 Bristol Omnibus Vehicle Collection Also delivered to Bristol Tramways for services in the City, particularly between Temple Meads and the Zoo. The 2 doorway ECW bodied Bristol L was unique to Bristol Tramways and this is the sole survivor. MHU49 Bedford OB Duple B30F 1949 Bristol Omnibus Vehicle Collection These little buses were particularly associated with the narrow lanes and winding routes around and Nailsworth. In 1958 this one was sold to Mid Wales Motorways before saved for preservation in 1977. Has had several owners in preservation and it is thought that it has never attended a rally until this month. MHU193 Bedford OB Mulliner B30F 1949 Bristol Omnibus Vehicle Collection New to Clifton College where it spent its entire working life as a school bus. Now repainted to represent a similar vehicle ordered by Pioneer but delivered to Bristol Tramways. Look out for the wooden slatted seats inside.

9 NHU2 Bristol LSX5G ECW B42D 1950 Bristol Omnibus Vehicle Collection This was the first underfloor engined bus produced by Bristol Tramways and was the forerunner of many thousands of similar vehicles. 2800 was converted to single door in 1956 and regularly used between Weston- super-Mare and Wells before being withdrawn in 1967. Now restored to original condition. OHY938 Bristol KSW6B ECW L27/28RD 1952 Bristol Omnibus Vehicle Collection One of ten similar buses delivered to Bristol Tramways before the Lodekka became the standard lowbridge bus. Spent most of its life allocated to Bath before becoming a driver trainer. Owned for 30 years by renowned transport historian Peter Davey before passing to the current owner. UHY360 Bristol KSW6G ECW H32/28R 1955 Bristol Omnibus Vehicle Collection The highbridge Bristol KSW was the mainstay of the Bristol City fleet in the 1950s/1960s. This one passed straight into preservation when withdrawn in 1971, retaining her Bristol AVW engine. UHY384 Bristol KSW6G ECW H32/28RD 1955 Bristol Omnibus Vehicle Collection New to Bristol Tramways for country services including Bristol - Weston-super-Mare. It is fitted with a Gardner 6LW engine and has a 5 speed gearbox and became a training bus in 1973 before entering preservation in 1981. 924AHY Bristol MW5G ECW C39F 1958 Bristol Omnibus 924AHY was the last single deck bus to be delivered to Bristol Omnibus Company with the 36 inch x 12 inch destination display, later replaced by a “T” box, with separate destination and number displays. She was from the first batch of Bristol MW buses produced to replace the Bristol LS bus (of which NHU2 was the prototype). 969EHW Bristol LD6G ECW H33/25RD 1959 Bristol Omnibus Vehicle Collection The was a revolutionary design of low height doubledecker when it was introduced. This example was new to Bath Services and used extensively on the Bath - route. Later used by BAC for staff transport at before being secured for preservation. 972EHW Bristol LD6B ECW H33/25R 1959 Bristol Omnibus New to Bristol Omnibus for City services from Winterstoke Road and Avonmouth depots. Withdrawn in January 1976, passing via two scrap dealers to a farmer who used it to transport strawberry pickers. Bought for preservation in 1984. BHU92C Bristol MW6G ECW C39F 1965 Bristol Omnibus Delivered to Bristol Omnibus Company in 1965, 2138 was one of seven of this type forming an order diverted from Eastern National in . She was fitted with an underfloor Gardner 6HLW engine and a five speed manual gearbox. FHU59D Bristol FLF6B ECW H38/32F 1966 Bristol Omnibus Like most Bristol City buses, C7246 was fitted with Bristol’s own BVW diesel engine, a power unit that is still fitted today: with a four speed gearbox, she is capable of about 37 miles per hour. She was withdrawn from service during 1983 and was used afterwards by the staff at and ’s Stroud depot as a carol bus, being much modified for this role. DHW293K Bristol LH6L ECW B42F 1972 Bristol Omnibus Vehicle Collection One of a batch of six identical vehicles, three of which including this one were new at Weston-super-Mare. These six were unusual in being fitted with semi-automatic gearboxes. Sold for further service to Thomas Bros, Llangadog before passing to the Cardiff & Trolleybus Project and thence to its current owner. XOU396T Bristol RELL6L Hess B47D 1979 Christchurch, NZ Amongst the last of the Bristol RE buses built by BCV were a run of around 150 for the Christchurch Municipality in New Zealand. This is one of a batch of 96 to carry a radical design of body by Hess of Switzerland, also sent to NZ as kits. Formerly Christchurch 538, JD4954, the bus is now registered XOU396T, and is in the livery of Bayline Coaches, Tauranga, North island, with whom it last operated “down under”.

Don’t forget to visit our restoration projects. Work has begun to bring the Bristol AVW engine of our ex-Crosville Bristol KSW6B NFM67(pictured right) back to as-new condition. Also on view today is Bristol L6B NFM46, the last Bristol L in regular service with Crosville. This is part way through a lengthy restoration to full working order. Our Tower Wagon (based on a Bristol L5G chassis) is with an external contractor for professional restoration but our ex-Hants & Dorset Bristol K6A will be on display at the depot.
