DOUGLAS J. ANDERSON, CASp, R.A.S. PARTNER

Doug Anderson works closely with clients to understand their issues and determine a process for solving their specific challenges. Since 1992, Doug has been assisting clients to understand and comply with state and federal accessibility codes and standards. He has developed and led nationwide accessibility survey projects and served as an expert in accessibility related cases.

President Bush appointed Doug to serve on the U.S. Access Board in 2003. He was reappointed for a second term in 2007 and was elected Chair of the Board in 2009. Prior to being elected to this position, he served as Vice Chair of the Board, Chair of the Executive Committee and chaired ad hoc committees developing guidelines for public rights of way, passenger vessels, and emergency transportable housing.

Currently Doug is the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AH&LA) representative on the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) A117.1 Accessibility Committee where he advocates for the hospitality industry during the development of standards for future model building codes.

Under the Fair Housing Accessibility FIRST Training Program, funded through the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, Doug is one of two technical trainers. Complementing this work, Doug assists the FHA FIRST in providing technical guidance to the questions asked through the agency’s toll free information and website.
