Also, if either bishop, archdeacon, farmer, parson, or vicar, having leases of spiritualities, do depart this life after twelve of the clock upon Easter Day, their executors and assigns have ever been accustomed to have and enjoy all the profits of that year until Easter Day next ensuing, and shall find and see the cure served and discharged,” by the operation of which law parochial benefices have remained, and may remain, so long a time without an incumbent as to be injurious to the best interests of the parishioners, and, therefore, it is expedient to amend and explain the same. c AT 1 of 1843 Page 5 Section 1 Ecclesiastical Persons Act 1843 1 [Repealed]1 2 [Repealed]2 3 [Repealed]3 4 [Repealed]4 5 [Repealed]5 6 Appointment of curate during vacancy In case of the avoidance of any benefice by death or otherwise, it shall and may be lawful for the Bishop, and he is hereby authorized, to appoint a curate to serve the benefice during the vacancy thereof.6 7 [Repealed]7 Page 6 AT 1 of 1843 c Ecclesiastical Persons Act 1843 Endnotes ENDNOTES Table of Legislation History Legislation Year and No Commencement Table of Renumbered Provisions Original Current Table of Endnote References 1 S 1 repealed by SD2015/0236. 2 S 2 repealed by SD2015/0236. 3 S 3 repealed by Tithe Act 1985 Sch 1 (and by SD2015/0236). 4 S 4 repealed by SD2015/0236. 5 S 5 repealed by SD2015/0236. 6 S 6 substituted by Church Act 1880 s 38 and amended by Church Act 1992 Sch 7 and by SD2015/0236. 7 S 7 repealed by SD2015/0236. c AT 1 of 1843 Page 7 .
