Churches of St. Mary & St. Michael Help one another. This is what Jesus teaches us. This is what I do. And I do it with my heart. ~Pope Francis

St. Michael’s and St. Mary’s Christmas Giving Tree Programs provide an opportunity for you to reach out to someone in need in this season of preparation for Christ’s birth. Let your eyes be open to the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of parishioners and members of our community. Gift requests for individuals are written on ornament tags. These tags are hung on garland in the Atrium and along the choir loft stairwell at St. Michael’s and on the Christmas tree in the back of the church at St. Mary’s. Each tag represents a gift request (approximate value of $25.00).

The Giving Tree programs serve our own parishioners and other community organizations, including Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Stillwater Residence, Hope House, Options for Women (formerly Project Life), Peace House, The Franciscan Brothers of Peace (St. Paul) and Missionary Sisters of Charity (Mpls). We help people of all ages, young and old alike. To participate, please follow the procedures below.

St. Michael’s Procedure Fill the request and return the gift in a gift bag with handles. Attach the ornament tag to the bag. Some of our ornaments have an envelope attached to it. These ornaments are asking for a monetary donation toward a specific request, i.e. a jacket or boots, or they are requesting a gift card. REMEMBER gift cards can be purchased at the SCRIP table in the atrium. Put the card in the envelope and leave it with the SCRIP volunteer at the table. In addition to the items noted on the tags, we are most grateful for extra games, books, art kits, gift certificates for groceries, gas, etc. We add these items to the individual bags.

During office hours, we ask you to drop off all Gift Bags and envelopes (with their tags attached) to the Church Office. After office hours and/or during Sunday Mass times, gift bags may be dropped off at either of the designated boxes in the Church or atrium. Envelopes, with their attached gift tags, should be placed in the Sunday Collection Basket or can be taken to the Parish Office and slid under the partition at the front desk. Please do not leave any envelopes in the drop off boxes.

St. Mary’s Procedure Pick a tag off of the Christmas Tree in the back of church. Fill the request and wrap the gift. Remember to tape the tag to the outside of the gift as this identifies where it goes. The tags on the tree represent many different community outreach organizations. Remember that the gift card requests on the Giving Tree can be easily purchased through the SCRIP program every Sunday right next to the tree, therefore benefitting SCCS as well as the recipient of the gift card! You may leave your wrapped gift under the tree or bring it to during office hours. Gift cards, with their attached gift tags, should be placed in the Sunday Collection Basket or can be brought to the Parish Office. Please do not leave any gift cards under the tree.

All gifts, with their tags attached, must be dropped off at the appropriate church no later than Sunday, December 16th.

All Saints Day was celebrated in a most special way at St. Croix Catholic School. The 2nd and 8th graders both learned about Saints. The 2nd graders presented their saints to class and also dressed as them during all school mass on all saints day. A visiting grandfather noted, "This has to be the greatest school in the state." And to put this statement into perspective, this grandfather has 28 grandkids (the oldest just turned 18) and they have been exposed to 7 different grade schools across the state of Minnesota! Humbled and blessed to have such incredible teachers at SCCS!!
