Nicholai Studies primarily publishes original scientific papers dedicated to the study of theology and spirituality. The journal is open for scientific papers and review articles based on research in other areas, like social sci- ences and humanities, philosophy, sociology, political science, philology, literature, history, historiography, archival research, etc. — as long as they correspond with the topic of the journal. Nicholai Studies also publishes From Editor: relevant archival and documentary material, with accompanying studies Introducing the 1st Issue of the Nicholai Studies and notes as well as bibliographies, shorter notes, reviews, comments and 7–16 reviews of new publications. Nicholai Studies primarily publishes articles in English and Serbian language. Every article published in Nicholai Studies is Original Research Articles: reviewed two times and anonymously before being published. The publisher of Nicholai Studies is the Christian Cultural Center “Dr Rado- Milan Kostrešević van Bigović”, based in Belgrade, Serbia. The journal is printed in A5 format on recycled paper in the 17–52 Printing office of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Belgrade. The scientific journal Nicholai Studies is founded in the year 2020 and launched Vladimir Cvetković in 2021. The journal Nicholai Studies is published two times a year. Papers The Freedom from Passions and the Freedom for All: published in Nicholai Studies are peer-reviewed. We fully endorse academic rules on publishing and pub- lication ethics. Our journal is published both in English and Serbian language; we apply the double-blind unbiased peer-re- view, including internal review by the Editorial Board and ex- ternal reviewers, experts on the topic. We support the principle of international diversity — di- versity of the Editorial Board, reviewers, and authors. Editorial 1 Nicholai Velimirovich, in Serbian: Николај Велимировић (before taking monastic vows: Никола Велимировић), in Russian and Bulgarian: Николай Велимирович, in Greek: Νικόλαος or Νικολάι Βελιμίροβιτς. His name in English and other languages written in Latin script can be found in following transcriptions: Nikolaj, Nikola, Nikolai, Nicola, Nico- lai, Nicolay, Nicholay, Nicholai, Nicolae, Nicholas, Nikolas, Nikolaus, and his surname as Velimirović, Velomirovic, Velimirovic, Velimirovich, Velimirovitch, Velimirovici or Veli- mirovitz: this can be confusing, but there was not one standardized form of a transcription of his name from the beginning of publishing of his works in English and other languag- es written in Latin script. In our journal, we will attempt to use the most common trans- literation of his name from Serbian, and also according to his signature — as Nicholai Ve- limirovich, which is the same as he used to write his own name in English. The only exceptions could be transliterations of his name in quotations and in refer- ences, where we will attend to keep the original form of a transcription of Velimirov- ich’s name and surname. 7 Nicholai Studies, Vol. I, No. 1 (2021): 7–16 Board invites and welcomes submissions from around the re- gion and all around the world. In this issue — the first issue of Nicholai Studies — we are publishing a guide to authors, where you can find all necessary information for submitting your articles. We would like to underline that our journal follows the publication ethics principles to prevent scientific or ethi- cal misconduct or plagiarism. Therefore authors are required to fill and submit the signed Authorship Statement, and also a brief academic biography along with their manuscripts. We encourage you to submit responses and reactions to the authors or the editors discussing the results of published studies, communications, and reviews. We are opened to chal- lenging opinions and discussions. We invite you to send your responses regarding debates on different topics — theology, spirituality, history, philosophy, and social sciences in general. We believe that if we all together took responsibility as authors, reviewers, and editors, we could reach our goal and bring your research to the attention of the international scientific com- munity and contribute thus to a better understanding of Bish- op Nicholai’s role and contribution, as well as to better knowl- edge and understanding of the contemporary Church history and streams of theological thought.     Illyrian-Albanian Continuity on the Areal of Kosova 29 Illyrian-Albanian Continuity on the Areal of Kosova Jahja Drançolli* Abstract In the present study it is examined the issue of Illyrian- Albanian continuity in the areal of Kosova, a scientific problem, which, due to the reasons of daily policy, has extremely become exploited (harnessed) until the present days. The politicisation of the ancient history of Kosova begins with the Eastern Crisis, a time when the programmes of Great-Serb aggression for the Balkans started being drafted. These programmes, inspired by the extra-scientific history dressed in myths, legends and folk songs, expressed the Serb aspirations to look for their cradle in Kosova, Vojvodina. Croatia, Dalmatia, Bosnia and Hercegovina and Montenegro. Such programmes, based on the instrumentalized history, have always been strongly supported by the political circles on the occasion of great historical changes, that have overwhelmed the Balkans. Key Words: Dardania and Dardans in antiquity, Arbers and Kosova during the Middle Ages, geopolitical, ethnic, religious and cultural concepts, which are known in the sources of that time followed by a chronological development. The region of Kosova preserves archeological monuments from the beginnings of Neolith (6000-2600 B.C.). Since that time the first settlements were constructed, including Tjerrtorja (Prishtinë), Glladnica (Graçanicë), Rakoshi (Istog), Fafos and Lushta (Mitrovicë), Reshtan and Hisar (Suharekë), Runik (Skenderaj) etc. The region of Kosova has since the Bronze Age been inhabited by Dardan Illyrians; the territory of extension of this region was much larger than the present-day territory of Kosova. * Prof. Jahja Drançolli Ph. Prokhorov, 2010 1 n several articles we have already compared the Russian% IUkrainian Baptist brotherhood, especially in its late Soviet form, with Russian Orthodox monasticism (first of all, with the not unfamiliar “monasticism in the world”).[1] However, this point of view perplexes many Baptist church members of our acquaintance; it evokes doubt or sometimes even an emotional rejection. A A U S during the presidency of Abraham Lincoln, Archimandrite B Sebastian Dabovich has the distinction of being the first person born in the United States of America to be ordained as an Orthodox priest, 1 and also the first native-born American to be tonsured as an Orthodox monk. His greatest distinction, however, lies in the tremen- dous apostolic, pastoral, and literary work that he accomplished dur- ing the forty-eight years of his priestly ministry. Known as the “Father of Serbian Orthodoxy in America,” 2 he was responsible for the found- ing of the first Serbian churches in the New World. This, however, was only one part of his life’s work, for he tirelessly and zealously sought to spread the Orthodox Faith to all peoples, wherever he was called. He was an Orthodox apostle of universal significance. Describing the vast scope of Fr. Sebastian’s missionary activity, Bishop Irinej (Dobrijevic) of Australia and New Zealand has written: 1 Alaskan-born priests were ordained before Fr. Hartmann _________________________ Adviser Professor Ellen Fleischmann Department of History ABSTRACT This dissertation exposes important junctures between feminism, imperialism, and orientalism by investigating the encounter between Western and Middle Eastern feminists in the first-wave international women’s movement. I focus primarily on the International Alliance of Women for Suffrage and Equal Citizenship, and to a lesser extent, the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom. By examining the interaction and exchanges among Western and Middle Eastern women (at conferences and through international visits, newsletters and other correspondence), as well as their representations of “East” and “West,” this study reveals the conditions of and constraints on the potential for feminist solidarity across national, cultural, and religious boundaries. In addition to challenging the notion that feminism in the Middle East was “imposed” from outside, it also complicates conventional wisdom about the failure of the first-wave international women’s movement to accommodate difference. Even though there was neither a provisional nor a permanent constitution of the newly-formed state, factually there was a state as well as a system of governance, represented by supreme bodies, the King and the Parliament. Many draft constitutions were prepared by different political parties and notable individu- als. We shall focus on the official Draft Constitution prepared during the premiership of Stojan Protić. He appointed the Drafting Committee as a governmental (multi-ethnic) advisory team of prominent legal experts from different parts of the new state consist- ing of Professors Slobodan Jovanović (President), Kosta Kumanudi and Lazar Marković (Serbia), Professor Ladislav Polić (Croatia) and Dr Bogumil Vošnjak (Slovenia). After two months of work, the Committee submitted its draft to the Prime Minister. The leading Serbian legal scholar and president of the committee, Slobodan Jovanović (1869–1958), was well-acquainted with the details of Austro-Hungarian and German legal traditions. Since he was an active participant and witness of the events that led to the creation of the new state, while also being an objective and critical historian, it is important to shed light on his firsthand account of the emergence of the state of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes.
