Exciting opportunity for UTS students on this 2 week program.

This program give you the chance to :

• Explore global issues of sustainability in innovative and ahead of the times Singapore. • Meet and work with students from all over the world. • Learn how climate change, environment and economic policies affect real world sustainability outcomes. • Visit a range of sites and organisations that demonstrate the concepts taught in lectures.

Who can apply?

This fantastic opportunity is open to UTS BUiLD students with:

• A keen interest in issues of sustainability, environment and or climate change science, policy or innovation. • A current GPA of 1.5 or over; • An easy going, flexible, independent character with a willingness to take initiative to learn; • A willingness to work hard and adapt to different surrounds and difficult work environments; • Strong team working skills.

About the NTU Summer Program This two-week summer program is run by the Centre for Continuing Education of Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is for for international undergraduates .The theme of the program is Sustainability and Innovation and teaching will revolve around the topics of: • Climate Change and its impact on Sustainability, • Sustainable Environmental Management, • Economic Sustainability, • Sustainability Leadership, • Creativity & Innovation, • Entrepreneurship & Innovation: • When East meets West. The Summer Program is taught in a unique learning environment on the green, spacious and beautiful campus of NTU in the exciting, vibrant and cosmopolitan city of Singapore! Classes are taught in English.

• Singapore: the island nation – an overview • Climate Change and its impact on sustainability • Sustainable environmental management • Sustainability leadership • Creativity and innovation • Economic sustainability • Entrepreneurship and innovation: When east meets west

Highlights – Field trips During the program you will visit the following sites that demonstrate innovation in sustainability practice:

• NeWater Plant • • Kampong Glam • Chinatown • Little India • Singapore National Museum • Night Safari • Funding Successful BUiLD students will each receive a travel grant of $1,500 towards the cost of Sustainability and Innovation program. The program fee is SGD$2,354. Program fees include: Tuition fees, site visits: The fee is inclusive of all activities and visits in the course program, program materials and welcome and closing lunches. Accommodation: Student accommodation on campus in a twin share room. Insurance: Travel and medical insurance through UTS Travel Insurance Policy

You are required to: • Attend a pre-departure session before the internship and a post-trip debrief upon your return. • Represent UTS with distinction at all times during the program. • Write a blog or maintain a written reflection during the program. • Submit a summary of your reflection to BUiLD after you return. • Complete feedback survey after you return. • Attend all BUiLD pre-departure and post-program information and briefing sessions*

* NB: Pre-Departure Information Sessions will run on 4 and 11 June 2014 and a Welcome Back post-program debrief is scheduled for 13 August 2014. These dates may change.
