They include administrative decisions, some staff appointments, financial and curriculum information, some committee reports, and enrollment statistics. Title based on contents of series Minutes of the Board for 1922-1972 can also be found in Record Group 20. This series also includes a ledger of the Charlottetown Teacher's Pension System, 1924-1950 which began in 1924 as per Chapter 13 of the 1924 School Act. The ledger records teachers, names and amounts of contributions to the pension fund as well as disbursements from the fund. Also included in the series is an account book for supply expenses for Charlottetown schools, 1955-1956. Edgar MacNutt and those kept during Kenneth A. Parker's term as superintendent of schools. Title based on contents of series Subseries 1: Files of Secretary of the Board, Major T. Edgar MacNutt. -1922-1959. - .17 m. of textual records This sub-series includes 21 files regarding the administration of the Charlottetown schools. It includes correspondence with Charlottetown City Council, the Department of Education, and the Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation. Information concerning manual training and opportunity classes, fire safety, Governor-General's medals, teachers' salaries and pensions, and school supply orders is also included, as are architectural drawings and newspaper clippings. Includes correspondence with the Board of School Trustees and the Department of Education; supply orders; staff lists and salary schedules; fire inspection and school maintenance reports; enrollment statistics; and some curriculum information. Also included are 6 files consisting of circulars, reports, presentations and addresses of the Red Cross Youth for 1967-1971. A two-body Legislature is known as a bicameral Legislature. PEI’s first Governor, Walter Patterson, was instructed to establish a House of Assembly in which representatives were popularly elected (unlike Council members, who were appointed). The combination of a Council and House was a requirement for the enactment of legislation under British law. Though Patterson became Governor in 1769, the first House of Assembly was not elected until 1773. Early sessions of the Assembly met in private homes and taverns. A Sergeant-at-Arms of the time commented that this made for a “damn queer parliament”. By 1825, the House of Assembly was working on establishing its rights and privileges, particularly in terms of self- regulation and authority.

    Community Sustainability Annual Report City of Charlottetown, PEI May 2018 Letter from Committee Environment & Sustainability Standing Committee Dear residents, The City of Charlottetown released an updated version of the original 2010 Integrated Community Sustainability Plan (ICSP)in March of 2017. This updated version is a fresh take on where the City is now in regards to sustainability, and what we hope to accomplish in the coming years. Without pause, the Charlottetown community and our staff have been working steadily toward achieving the goals laid out in the ICSP. We are pleased to share this Annual Report listing the progress that has been made in just this past year. Vice-Chair - Councillor Jason Coady Our work is driven by a love for the environment that sustains us, and a desire to meet the needs and values of the Charlottetown community. Through consultations and collaborations we strive to work with the public and various partners to achieve common objectives with maximum efficiency. We are so thankful for the staff and community members who have contributed to the numerous initiatives laid out in this Annual Report. It would be much quicker read without all of their hard work. We recognize that the City of Charlottetown has a major role to play in PEI’s ability to reduce its environmental impact, and we strive to demonstrate leadership in our commitment to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions that contribute to climate change. All of these areas had relatively good relations between Protestants and Catholics from 1780 to the mid-I 830s, then experienced a period of intense sectarian conflict into the late 1870s, but thereafter the Atlantic provinces took a unique path in mmaging sectarian tensions.
