She did understandably slow from there on but her finishing time of 47:00 was a 2:22 PB. It is a shame that she is too young for this year's World Junior Champs but she is eligible to contest the World Cup and, like Jesse, is an automatic selection as winner of the trial. • 19 year old Jesse also strode straight to the lead in the Junior Men's race and was on target for a sub-41 at the 6km mark before fading slightly in the warming morning conditions. -

Re-Imagining and Updating Catholicity: Building Church Unity in a Globalized and Scattered World*
Re-imagining and Updating Catholicity: Building Church Unity in a Globalized and Scattered World* SANDRA ARENAS PÉREZ** ABSTRACT ontemporary Catholic theological debate on catholicity claims to recover a qualitative conception of catholicity, in order to correct C the classical emphasis on geographical breadth. The tendencies to iden tify catholicity with universality, to confuse universality with uniformity and to equate continuity with immutability, prevented the Church from developing a holistic approach to catholicity. In facing the challenge of globalization, Christianity can offer an alter native way of togetherness in diversity, which seems to be the current translation of the theological category of the catholicity of the Church. This article’s focus will be therefore on the role and significance of community building and the Church’s unity in regard to sustaining creation and addressing globalization. Key Words: Catholicity, Church Unity, Globalization, Commu nity building, Ecumenism. * This article results of fruitful theological discussions held with some colleagues at the Theology Faculty of the Catholic University of Leuven-Belgium, on the occasion of the International Conference “To Discern Creation in a Scattered World”. A preliminar version, with a stronger emphasis on globalization, was published as part of the memoirs of the above mentioned event: Lernen für das Leben. Perspektiven ökumenischen Lernens und ökumenischer Bildung. Leuven: Lembeck, 2010., p. 187-201 ** Doctor in Systematic Theology, Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. Competing in our latest 5km roadwalk at Middle Park on Saturday, he powered to a 36 second PB of 23:31. He has done PBs over a range of distances this winter season, including 51:58 for 10km, but I suspect that particular one is going to take a hiding pretty soon. He came 2nd in the U16 3km at the LBG Carnival in June (14:24) and is another young walker on the rise. Well done Heath! All finished their events in the very tough conditions, battling through temperatures in the thirties and high humidity. Jemima (6 th) and Rhydian (8th) led the way with top- 8 finishes, Declan and Rhydian recorded PBs and Bec, the youngest competitor in the women’s 20km, walked excellently, just like all the others. We are so proud of them all. ◦ Declan Tingay Men’s 20km Race Walk 22 17th 1:24:00 PB ◦ Kyle Swan Men’s 20km Race Walk 22 36th 1:27:55 ◦ Rhydian Cowley Men’s 20km Race Walk 30 8th 3:52.01 PB ◦ Jemima Montag Women’s 20km Race Walk 23 6th 1:30:39 ◦ Katie Hayward Women’s 20km Race Walk 21 37th 1:38:11 ◦ Rebecca Henderson Women’s 20km Race Walk 20 38th 1:38:21 Jemima, Kyle, Rhydian, Declan, Bec and Katie celebrate their successful Olympics, as the Games drew to a close last weekend (photo Amanda Montag) 1 WHAT’S COMING UP • With NSW, QLD and Victoria still in lockdown and with SA just coming out of lockdown, it is a time of great uncertainty here in Australia. -

See the announcement at https://www.athletics.com.au/news/marathoners-selected-for-tokyo-2020-australian-olympic-team/. Well done Rhydian on your second Olympics. It is a just reward for all your hard work. I thought the MorelandStar (https://www.facebook.com/morelandstarnews/) summed it all up nicely LOCAL RESIDENT SELECTED FOR THE 2021 OLYMPICS The Australian Olympic Committee announced yesterday that Fawkner resident Rhydian Cowley has been selected for the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games in the 50km Racewalk. If you walk along the Merri Creek trail, perhaps you’ve seen Rhydian as it’s where he does a lot of his training – particularly during lockdown. In addition to sessions at the gym, he says he walks between 105 to 150 kms per week. -

She has been in good racing form lately but has now catapulted herself into our top Junior ranks. This was one out of the bag. And to cap it off, she had been sick and in bed prior to the race. • 23 year old Victorian walker Rhydian Cowley walked the fastest AV Shield 2000m time so far this summer in winning his walk at Casey Fields last Thursday evening. His time of 7:29.1 was a 13 sec PB and is a new VRWC Open Club record. With the Victorian 5000m coming up next Sunday, he will be amongst the favourites. So it's time for a vote - just zoom over to http://www.vrwc.org.au/vrwcWOW.php and go to it! WHAT'S COMING UP 2014 Victorian Open Track & Field Championships are on this weekend at Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park and the final timetable now shows that the 5000m Open Walks are scheduled for 1:10PM and 1:50PM on Sunday 2 nd March. -
