Xbox Security
Xbox Security The Xbox is a sixth generation video game console produced by Microsoft Corporation. It was Microsoft's first foray into the gaming console market, and competed directly with Sony's PlayStation 2 and the Nintendo GameCube. It was released on November 15, 2001 in North America, February 22, 2002 in Japan, and March 14, 2002 in Europe and Australia. It is the predecessor to Microsoft's Xbox 360 console. The remarkable success of the upstart Sony PlayStation worried Microsoft in late 1990s. The growing video game market seemed to threaten the PC market which Microsoft had dominated and relied upon for most of its revenues. Additionally, a venture into the gaming console market would diversify Microsoft's product line, which up to that time had been heavily concentrated on software. The Xbox was Microsoft's first product that ventured into the video game console market, after having collaborated with Sega in porting Windows CE to the Dreamcast console. Notable launch titles for the console included Halo: Combat Evolved, Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding, Dead or Alive 3, Project Gotham Racing, and Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. Development The Xbox was initially developed within Microsoft by a small team that included game developer Seamus Blackley (an agent with Creative Artists Agency representing video game creators). Microsoft repeatedly delayed the console, which was revealed at the end of 1999 following interviews of Microsoft CEO Bill Gates. Gates stated that a gaming/multimedia device was essential for multimedia convergence in the new times of digital entertainment. On March 10, 2000 the "X-box Project" was officially confirmed by Microsoft with a press release. -

AUSTRALIAN CUSTOMS NOTICE NO. 2007/34 Notices of Objection to Importation Copyright Act 1968 The Copyright Act 1968 allows the owner of the copyright, or the exclusive licensee, to object to the importation of goods that infringe copyright. The owner of the copyright, or the exclusive licensee, does this by lodging a Notice of Objection with the Australian Customs Service (Customs). Unless revoked, a Notice of Objection remains in force for a period of four years from the date of commencement. The attached Schedule sets out the copyright owners, and exclusive licensees, who have lodged a Notice of Objection under the Copyright Act 1968 since February 2007 (ACN 2007/09). The Notices notify the objections of the copyright owners, and exclusive licensees, to the importation of goods that infringe their copyright. A description of where copyright is claimed is also set out in the Schedule. A detailed list of all current Copyright Notices of Objection is available at www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=4497. Goods identified by Customs at the border as potentially infringing copyright are liable to be seized by Customs unless it can be established that: - the goods are being imported otherwise than for the purposes of trade (sale, lease, hire, etc); or - the goods do not infringe the copyright. People who have been intending to import goods that may be liable to seizure under the provisions of the Copyright Act 1968 should consider seeking advice from Customs, or a suitably qualified legal practitioner, as to the implications of the copyright legislation. Copies of the relevant Notices of Objection have been forwarded to the Customs office in the capital city of each State and Territory. -

Un nuovo Banjo Kazooie potrebbe arrivare su Nintendo Switch Il genere platform è stato da sempre uno di quelli che si è meglio adattato al3D ; c’è stato un periodo, esattamente nel passaggio dalla generazione16-bit alla 32/64-bit, in cui tutti giochi sarebbero dovuti diventare tridimensionali, indipendente dal loro genere, ma questa decisione non giovò per molti titoli (basti pensare aCastlevania su N64, Contra: Legacy of War su Sony Playstation e Sega Saturn o l’orrendo Bubsy 3D). Super Mario 64 dimostrò al mondo come il platform poteva funzionare, ma soprattutto evolversi, nelle console di nuova generazione; in uno scenario in cui in molti tentavano di dare la miglior definizione diplatform 3D, come la Sony Computer Entertainment con Spyro the Dragon, uscì un platform che riscrisse le regole di un genere quasi ancora agli albori: stiamo parlando diBanjo-Kazooie , titolo di Rare uscito esclusivamente su Nintendo 64 nel 1998. Lo studio inglese non solo andava d’accordo con Nintendo ma lo era ancora di più con l’innovazione: già ai tempi dello SNES tirarono fuori Donkey Kong Country, titolo che utilizzava l’allora innovativagrafica 3D pre-renderizzata, e su Nintendo 64, Rare finì per gettare le basi per gli FPS moderni con Goldeneye 007. Banjo-Kazooie prese i concetti di Super Mario 64, gioco già innovativo di suo, e li espanse: il titolo, che vedeva un orso campagnolo e un picchio rosso chiacchierone (o meglio, chiacchierona… sì, Kazooie è femmina) al salvataggio della sorella del primo, presentava un overworld e livelli più espansi, una storyline e dei personaggi più definiti, mosse e meccaniche sempre nuove ma soprattutto tantissimi oggetti da collezionare (tanto che fu coniato il termine “Collectathon” per descrivere giochi simili a questo). -

And, Ed, welcome to the Computer History Museum. Ed Fries: Thanks. It's good to be here. Spicer: Really glad to have you here today. Can you tell us a bit about your early years, where you grew up, where you went to school, that kind of thing? Fries: Yeah, sure. So I grew up outside Seattle, [a] town called Bellevue. My mom and dad both moved out from the East Coast to work for Boeing, so Bellevue is kind of the engineer’s town at Boeing. So everything was Boeing back then. It was the biggest employer. And so, yeah, that's where I grew up. Spicer: Were your parents technically oriented or-- Fries: Yeah, they're both technical. Yeah. My dad was an electrical engineer, and my mom was a chemical engineer. Spicer: Wow. Fries: Yeah, so they met at Bucknell [University] and then both ended up getting hired by Boeing and moving out here. Spicer: That's great. So tell me how they influenced you, then. Having two engineers as parents must have had some kind of influence. Fries: Yeah, it gets worse actually, because my mom quit her job when she had the kids, and then when I was in sixth grade, she went back to school, back [to the] University of Washington, and got a master's [degree] in computer science and then went to work at DEC, Digital Equipment Corporation, as you know. -
