Hasta el 2006 se desarrolló en 23 ciudades capitales analizando el transporte público municipal prestado en el perímetro urbano. Actualmente la cobertura abarca 8 áreas metropolitanas (Barranquilla, Bogotá, Bucaramanga, Cali, Cúcuta, Manizales, Medellín, Pereira) y 15 ciudades del país. Mensualmente se recolecta y consolida información por tipo de vehículo y nivel de servicio; en lo referente al parque automotor se recoge información sobre viajes recorridos, kilómetros recorridos, pasajeros movilizados y tarifa diurna vigente. Las variables principales de la encuesta son el parque automotor y el número de pasajeros transportados por las empresas legalmente constituidas, que prestan el servicio de transporte y que tienen asociado el pago de una tarifa cuyo valor es determinado por las autoridades competentes (Secretaría de Tránsito y Transporte) en cada uno de los municipios. -

Aerial ropeway systems have been operated in touristic spots e.g., over lakes, rivers, and hilly lands in several countries. Passengers can enjoy a view from the above and experience a stress-free and reliable trip. Furthermore, those systems can be exploited as a public transportation in urbanized and populated regions. The objective of this article is to investigate the viability of implementing a gondola line flying over Doha Bay in Qatar as a tourist attraction from the marketing, economic, and environmental point of view. In this study, the associated costs (capital, maintenance, and operating) of implementing a monocable detachable gondola technology(MDG) are estimatedDraft using international best practices in the world. The economic analysis outcome demonstrates that the revenues generated from the fares could counterweigh the required capital investment as well as operating and maintenance costs and hence the proposed gondola could be economically attractive for investors. -

In 2016 a large catch-up* in infrastructure investments is being confirmed by several Latin American countries, driven by the knowledge that economic growth relies heavily on quality infrastructure. The transport sector is going to firmly benefit from the expected increase in public and private funds. The continent being one of the most urbanized regions in the world, a large focus goes into urban rail projects: Mexico, Guatemala, Paraguay, Colombia, Chile, Brazil… are planning new projects for metro, light rail, high speed rail, monorail and passenger trains. One country is clearly taking the lead: Argentina. Besides boosting its investment climate and PPP laws, Argentina made public the ambitious 8-year 14.187 m USD investment in Buenos Aires` commuter network. Related key projects are the city`s RER and tunneling of the Sarmiento line. RIOC was created by the New York State legislature, in 1984, to take responsibility, pursuant to a General Development Plan (GDP), for the development and operation of the 147 acres comprising the former Welfare Island, located in New York City's East River. RIOC assumed the role of the New York State Urban Development Corporation as lessee under a 99-year Master Lease (running until 2068) from the City of New York. The GDP, which has been amended from time to time, provides for the development of housing, shops and community facilities for a mixed income, handicap accessible, residential neighborhood. As an island community, Roosevelt Island requires specialized operations and capital infrastructure maintenance such as an aerial tramway, comprehensive garbage compacting system and seawall improvements. This article explores the question how and in what ways the MetroCable affects accessibility of the residents in two municipalities - Santa Cruz and Popular - where it operates since 2004. The presentation combines an analysis of the influence of the MetroCable on accessibility in general with a specific inquiry on female residents and the role of security. The paper adopts a differentiated conceptualization and indicators of accessibility. The analysis draws on statistical quantitative data from the Origin-Destination surveys for Medellín of 2005 and 2011/2 and about 30 in-depth semi structured interviews with female residents conducted in 2012. The paper concludes with a discussion on the possible lessons for planning interventions for improving accessibility of residents in low-income neighborhoods and a discussion on methodological implications. © 20142014 The The Authors.
