U.S. producers' shipments During the first quarter of 1980, U.S. producers' shipments amounted to 263 million pounds, which was 18 percent less than shipments in the first quarter of 1979 and about 5 percent larger than shipments during the fourth quarter of 1979. U.S. imports U.S. imports of bolts, nuts, and large screws totaled approximately 185 million pounds in the first quarter of 1980, which was about 9 percent less than imports in the first quarter of 1979 but 5 percent larger than imports in the fourth quarter of 1979.
