Cullen Bunn : Sinestro Vol. 3: Rising before purchasing it in order to gage whether or not it would be worth my time, and all praised Sinestro Vol. 3: Rising:

Witness The Rise of Sinestro's Empire of Fear!By Dr.M.LawickiIn the third volume of the Sinestro run by Cullen Bunn we discover that the entire Corps have vanished without a trace. The Green Lanterns appear to have been snuffed out of existence, making Sinestro the happiest Yellow Lantern in the Universe. Up until this point in time, Sinestro and his of Yellow Lanterns have been busy rescuing his fellow Korrugarians from precarious situations across the Universe and nation building on 'New Korrugar.' For those newly indoctrinated in the lore of Yellow Lanterns, Sinestro is attempting to atone for the destruction of his home planet. Although Sinestro wasn't directly responsible for the destruction of Korrugar, his hubris and vanity helped to facilitate the unfortunate series of events that resulted in a near-genocidal event. But now his priorities have changed. With the Green Lanterns gone, Sinestro shifts his focus to filling the massive power gap left by the Greens with his own Yellow Lanterns. The Yellow Lanterns have taken over the former role of the by becoming the new police force of the universe, bringing order from Chaos, and exacting peace through fear--exactly the way Sinestro would have it. Sinestro's machinations have attracted the negative attention of the cosmic underworld, who are NOT pleased with the prospect of grappling with a new and brutal police force of Yellow Lanterns. Understandably, they send their best assassin--Lobo--to eliminate the source of their new problem-- Sinestro. I am a fan of Sinestro and enjoyed this volume almost as much as the first volume in the series by Cullen Bunn. The artwork in volume 3 is stellar, and this makes RISING a worthwhile investment in my opinion. Sinestro's arrogant demeanor, brazen self-confidence, razor-sharp intellect, and his prescient nature make him an appealing character to me. Sinestro is a villain par excellence! Before I picked up this volume on , I have to admit that I had always hated the chracter Lobo. To me, Lobo was little more than a cross between Marvels character with a bit of Ghost Rider tossed in for good measure. This story helped to flesh out Lobo's character and gave him a three dimensional aspect I haven't seen in other comics. It made me want to know more about his origins and prior experiences. It definitely piqued my interest. As I've stated previously, the incredible artistry of this graphic novel makes it a worthwhile investment, and I particularly like the way Sinestro and Lobo were drawn and depicted in volume 3. The story is a compelling and interesting one, and I am definitely looking forward to the next volume in the Sinestro series. 5 stars from me!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Solid Continuation of the Sinestro Solo SeriesBy clairetoldmetochangemyscreennameSolid continuation of the Sinestro solo series. Sinestro starts gaining power while also figuring out who of his inner circle has tried to betray him. Meanwhile, bounty hunter Lobo is on a mission from Sinestro to take out as many of the other Lantern Corps' members as possible. Overall, it is hard to hate more Sinestro playing his galactic power games especially with such a surprisingly good supporting cast around him like his daughter (who finally takes a step towards becoming a more permanent member of the Sinestro Corps). The only downside really is the inclusion of the crappy New 52 reboot Lobo. Even then the overall story of Sinestro's power plays still make this a worthwhile read. But seriously why did DC think needed another young, wise-cracking bro character?0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. pretty neatBy Nathan Thomas WaltersI thought this was an awesome read, Sinestro is one of my favorite villains so its always nice to see him in the spotlight.

Witness the rise of Sinestro’s empire of fear. The Green Lantern Corps has vanished, leaving a void in the power system of the universe, a void that Sinestro and his Yellow Lanterns are more than happy to fill. Now Sinestro is recruiting familiar and not-so-familiar faces. With no one to stand in his way, he will stop at nothing to maintain his own vicious view of law and order. These extreme actions by Sinestro cannot be ignored by the cosmic underworld, so they send the all-new, main man himself—Lobo—to stop him permanently. But will he destroy Sinestro or join him?Writer Cullen Bunn (GREEN LANTERN: THE LOST ARMY) is joined by a cast of all-star artists, including, Brad Walker () Ethan Van Sciver (GREEN LANTERN: SINESTRO CORPS WAR), and Robson Rocha (EARTH 2: WORLD’S END). Collects SINESTRO #12-15, LOBO #10-11 and LOBO ANNUAL #1.
