On April 14th, legendary race car driver, Brian Redman, was inducted into the International Hall of Fame. At the induction ceremony, the veteran racer was presented by the founder of the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, Bill Warner.

The induction of Brian Redman is well-deserved as he has been a long-time consistent competitive racer in many categories of performance . His accomplishments on the track are stellar:

• four International Championship of Makes titles (1968, 1969, 1970 and 1972)

• three-straight F5000 Championships (’74, ’75, ’76)

• 1998 IMSA GTP Championship

• 1st - Targa Florio (1970)

• 1st – 24-Hours of Daytona (’70, ’76, ’81)

• 1st – Nurburgring 1000 km (’69, ’73)

• 1st – Spa 1,000 km (’68, ’69, ’70, ’72)

• 1st – 12-Hours of Sebring (’75, ’78)

st Former Allard Motor Company engineer, David Hooper • 1 – IMSA GTP - Miami GP ’84 and Road Atlanta ‘85 and Brian Redman at Amelia Island Concours. Redman has the distinction of successfully racing on many tracks, in many racing series and types of cars. He competed in , open-wheelers, Can-AM, IMSA and FIA. He drove for a number of factory teams, such as Aston-Martin, BMW, Ferrari, Ford, Jaguar and Porsche.

Despite three major accidents in his career (Belgian GP, Sicily and Montreal), the 74-year old Redman still competes in a half-dozen vintage races per year. In 2009, the veteran driver took a British Racing Green, Hemi-powered Allard J2X MkII to the track for the VRG-sponsored Jefferson 500 vintage race weekend. The event’s Honorary Chairman did pace & safety car duties for the weekend with the J2X MkII, accompanied by Allard Motor Works’ founder, Roger Allard, doing radio control duties for the start of each event.

“What a delight to drive,” commented Redman at the wheel of the new roadster. “It’s tight, responsive, well balance and has torque to spare. Well done Roger!”

• New orders are currently scheduled for Spring delivery.

• Allard Motor Works is exchanging information with Chrysler MOPAR engineers in their development of two new Hemi engines that are California emissions-compliant– the 5.7L Eagle and the 6.4L Apache. These will replace the popular 5.7L Hemi crate engine, which has been discontinued. For 2012, all Allard J2X MkII customers will have the option to power their new roadster with the emissions-compliant Hemis, or the GM E-rod engine. If anyone thinks that an environmentally-compliant engine compromises horsepower, think again. The current GM RamJet 350 PFI V8 crate engine produces 350 hp. The new GM 350 E-Rod engine produces 454 hp.... and is California-compliant!

• Work is progressing on the design of an all-weather kit for the J2X MkII. Both a rag top and a hard top are proposed.

• AMW’s new heater option is showing great results. The small round retro-looking ‘krinkled metal’ unit has a two-speed fan and cranks out an incredible amount of heat– “a little furnace” commented one user.

• In 2012, AMW anticipates having a right-hand drive option, which will satisfy the many requests received from the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Japan. As it requires a significant amount of re-engineering due to the limited space in the engine compartment, AMW is collecting the names of potential owners with a serious intent to own a RHD. “The domino effect of such a configuration is not negligible,” states Roger Allard. “We need a critical mass to move forward, and I believe it will be there in 2012.”

• AMW anticipates receiving its first orders for shipment to the Gulf States in 2012.

• AMW expects to expand its operations in 2012 to meet increasing demand from the export market.

• The high-end luxury German publication, Dario’s Catalogue, should be available soon. The Christmas edition features the Allard J2X MkII as its prime luxury automobile offering.

• The 672-page annual automobile directory, Le Guide de l’Auto, did a two-page feature on the Allard J2X MkII in its 2012 edition.

• Christmas is on the horizon. AMW has a good stock of quality leather aviator helmets, gauntlets, gloves and t-shirts. Contact us well ahead of time if you plan to offer these as Christmas gifts.
