Over the next year every deanery in Truro Diocese is being required to look very seriously at our finances but also our mission opportunities, and to imagine a future for our churches which is fruitful but also sustainable. This programme is called 'On the Way' because of our belief that God is with us, but that God is also leading us to a new future together. On Wed 5th May at 7pm on Zoom, Carnmarth North Deanery Synod will be meeting, and after a short business section Bishop Hugh will lead an introduction to 'On the Way'. It is hoped that as many people from across the Deanery as possible will attend—this is NOT open only to Synod members, but to everyone from any congregation. There is a video by Bishop Philip on the Truro Diocese YouTube channel, titled ‘DoT On The Way Video’, which you may find helpful to watch before the meeting. Bore, gules, three dexter arms conjoined and flexed in triangle or, hands clenched proper. THE CARTULARY OF ST. MICHAELS MOUNT. The Cartulary of St Michaels Mount contains a charter whereby Robert, Count of Mortain who became Earl of Cornwall about 1075 conferred on the monks at St Michaels Mount 3 acres in Manech (Meneage) namely Treboe, Lesneage, Tregevas and Carvallack. This charter is confirmed in substance by a note in the custumal of Otterton Priory that the church had by gift of Count Robert 2 plough lands in TREMAINE 3 in Traboe 3 in Lesneage 2 in Tregevas and 2 in Carvallack besides pasture for all their beasts ( i.e. on Goonhilly) CORNISH MANORS. It was usual also upon Cornish Manors to pay a heriot (a fine) of the best beast upon the death of a tenant; and there was a custom that if a stranger passing through the County chanced to die, a heriot of his best beast was paid, or his best jewel, or failing that his best garments to the Lord of the Manor.

The complete programme comprises approximately 950 sites covering 4230 km of river and 27 km of canal. The full programme is completed in two years, with half the sites surveyed in any one year. Twenty-two key sites are visited every year, to assess annual changes? seven of the sites are solely to monitor discharges from sewage treatment works (STWs) and are not used for river quality classification. The complete programme matches the routine chemical monitoring programme, but includes additional sites so that all reaches which had been assigned River Quality Objectives are monitored. Fourteen sites, originally programmed for the 1993 survey, are also to be surveyed in 1992 to support the Operational Investigation into the impact of the Wheal Jane pollution incident on the River Carnon. Macro-invertebrates are sampled three times in the year; in Spring, Summer and Autumn. Habitat features and macrophytes are recorded once.
