(MPI), a company to be incorporated under the laws of Mozambique, together with Sasol New Energy Holdings (Pty) Ltd (SNE), in a joint development agreement is proposing the construction and operation of a gas to power facility, known as the Central Térmica de Temane (CTT) project. During the CTT construction phase, large heavy equipment and materials will need to be brought in by a ship which will remain anchored at sea off the coast of Inhassoro. Equipment and materials will be transferred to a barge capable of moving on the high tide into very shallow water adjacent to the beach to discharge its cargo onto a temporary off-loading jetty (typically containers filled with sand) near the town of Inhassoro. This report presents a description of the baseline marine ecology environment and an assessment of the potential impacts of the construction and operation of the temporary landing facilities, anchorage points for the transhipment vessels, and barge movements between these two locations. -

Barrow Island, a small, semi-arid island off the Pilbara coast of north- western Australia, has maintained the integrity of its terrestrial and aquatic biota despite sporadic incursions by invasive species and the operation of commercial oil extraction and liquified natural gas processing for over 50 years. We collate information from a wide range of sources to provide a framework to inform the ongoing management of the terrestrial and aquatic fauna and flora species that have conservation significance on the island. These include endemic flora and fauna; species listed as threatened by state, national and international authorities; species that are rare or extinct in other parts of their original range; species of biogeographic significance; and migratory birds and marine fauna of national and international significance. In addition, Barrow Island has been of value in acting as a source area for translocations of vulnerable and endangered mammal species that have been eradicated in other parts of their range. -
Tonga SUMA Report
BIOPHYSICALLY SPECIAL, UNIQUE MARINE AREAS OF TONGA EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT Marine and coastal ecosystems of the Pacific Ocean provide benefits for all people in and beyond the region. To better understand and improve the effective management of these values on the ground, Pacific Island Countries are increasingly building institutional and personal capacities for Blue Planning. But there is no need to reinvent the wheel, when learning from experiences of centuries of traditional management in Pacific Island Countries. Coupled with scientific approaches these experiences can strengthen effective management of the region’s rich natural capital, if lessons learnt are shared. The MACBIO project collaborates with national and regional stakeholders towards documenting effective approaches to sustainable marine resource management and conservation. The project encourages and supports stakeholders to share tried and tested concepts and instruments more widely throughout partner countries and the Oceania region. This report outlines the process undertaken to define and describe the special, unique marine areas of Tonga. These special, unique marine areas provide an important input to decisions about, for example, permits, licences, EIAs and where to place different types of marine protected areas, locally managed marine areas and Community Conservation Areas in Tonga. APPENDIX E BORR Northern and Central Section Targeted Fauna Assessment (Biota 2019a) – Part 3 (part 7 of 7) BORR Northern and Central Section Fauna 6.0 Conservation Significant Species This section provides an assessment of the likelihood of occurrence of the target species and other conservation significant vertebrate fauna species returned from the desktop review; that is, those species protected by the EPBC Act, BC Act or listed as DBCA Priority species. Appendix 1 details categories of conservation significance recognised under these three frameworks. As detailed in Section 4.2, the assessment of likelihood of occurrence for each species has been made based on availability of suitable habitat, whether it is core or secondary, as well as records of the species during the current or past studies included in the desktop review. Table 6.1 details the likelihood assessment for each conservation significant species. Devon TQ12 3JS The British Isles are home to 2 species of Seahorse, Hippocampus guttulatus (The Spiny Seahorse) and Hippocampus hippocampus (The Short Snouted Seahorse); the British Seahorse Survey was set up in 1994 by The Seahorse Trust to study both of the species in the wild and we have now accrued a huge amount of data about them but it is seldom we get a chance to study individuals for any length of time in the wild. So the opportunity to study a pair of Hippocampus hippocampus in Torbay, Devon for 3 months was invaluable to gather much needed data on their ecology and behaviour in the wild. John Newman (the Seahorse Trust) studied a pair of Short Snouted Seahorses at Babbacombe in Torbay in Devon and spent over 300 hours watching behaviour and taking photographs. Through their work they have made numerous discoveries about both British species of seahorses and submitted and got both species protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act (1981).
