BEST OF THE BEST!! THAT WOULD BE YOU! Here is my theory... three years ago the Manhattan Mercury started to include the category of “Best Clergy” in their spring “Best of VOLUME 86 | NO. 6 | June 2019 Manhattan” publication. This new category found its way into the list of: best medical practice, car dealership, teacher, realtor, etc. SUNDAY MORNING SCHEDULE The “Best of Manhattan” is a somewhat creative and fun way to recognize the many contributions made by individuals, businesses, and 8:35 am - Contemporary Worship organizations. People vote for their favorite, realizing that everyone is 9:30 am - Fellowship Time quite deserving. For the past three years, mysteriously my name has 9:45 am - Sunday School risen to the top. 11:00 am - Traditional Worship So here is my theory. When it comes to best clergy, many people in our community are not personally familiar with very many clergy folk. FEATURED EVENTS However, most people in our community are very familiar with active and involved churches, such as ours. So, when people think of “best Vacation Bible School clergy” they are really thinking of “best church” in regards to a church June 3-7 being visible, involved, and impactful. So actually, the “Best of the Best” really goes to every one of you; to Combined Worship the two other exceptional pastors at First Church, to the skilled and June 9 passionate church staff, and to the extremely talented and generous members of our church family. Thus…Congratulations! Well done. Pastor Troy’s Last Sunday Let’s keep focused on our mission: “Connecting to Christ, Growing in June 16 Community, Serving the World.” Patriotic Concert Thrilled to be serving with such a talented group! You’re the best… June 30 Pastor Troy The newsletter is published monthly on the 28 for the following month. The deadline for submissions is the 15 of every month. PASTORAL TRANSITION The Transition Team will host a celebration in honor Many questions may be in the congregation’s mind of the Bowers on Sunday, June 16. This will be the last concerning getting a new Senior Pastor to serve First service led by Pastor Troy at FUMC and the congregation Church. A prominent one may be, “How will the is invited to attend and let him and Amy know how much transition between Pastor Troy and Pastor Barry be we all appreciate them. We will have a send-off celebration handled”? Well, that is a good question as we all want to between the services on that date. This will be a chance to continue the internal passion and faith building that Troy relive our successes along with finding ways to say goodbye and the church staff have worked on over the years.
