Visited April 1953 A two -storeyed house of mortared rubble, 30ft long by 17ft 6” wide. The lintels of all openings are stone slabs; the roof is of modern slates with slab copings. At the NW end is a projecting chimney with large square stack with projecting coping; at the SE end is a modern chimney. There are windows on the ground floor only, except for one small window in the SE gable end. The house has two entrances opposite one another in the side walls. A mill -wheel has been built against the SE end of the NE wall, the wall being broken through to take the axle . The water conduit has gone but the buttress to support it remains against the SE side of the NE doorway; the conduit must have been carried over the top of the doorway and along the NE wall, which accounts for the blocking of the NE window. The ground fl oor was divided by a post -and panel partition which was slotted not into the soffit of a ceiling beam but into a separate top beam which survives in its entirety; the SW half of the partition, with a doorway, survives, each 2 ft wide.

  • Local Government Plan Preferred Strategy PDF 2 MB
ISLE OF ANGLESEY COUNTY COUNCIL Report to Executive Committee Date 14.1.2013 Subject Consultation draft Preferred Strategy Document Portfolio Holder(s) Cllr. Robert Ll. Hughes Lead Officer(s) Jim Woodcock Contact Officer Nia H Davies 01286 679890 Nature and reason for reporting To request that the Committee endorses the draft Preferred Strategy document prior to its release for consideration and approval by the Council on the 24th January 2013. A - Introduction / Background / Issues The Preferred Strategy is a vital stage in the long journey to prepare the Local Development Plan (LDP) with Gwynedd. The Strategy has been drawn-up following a number of opportunities for full participation by Ynys Mon Councillors At this stage the Council is being asked to adopt the Strategy for the purposes of public consultation. Views expressed during the public consultation period will help inform the preparation of a more detailed plan called the Deposit Plan which will set out the strategy, including strategic policies, as well as detailed planning policies. The Deposit Plan is due to be considered by Council later on in 2013. Introduction The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 requires the Council to prepare a Local Development Plan (LDP) for the development and use of land over the plan period and its policies to implement them. This Council has decided to work with Gwynedd Council to prepare a Joint LDP. Regulation 15 of the Local Development Plan Regulations requires that, before finally determining the content of its Local Development Plan (LDP) for deposit, a Council must publish its pre-deposit proposals for public inspection and comment.

  • 'Building Conservation in Practice'
‘Building conservation in practice’ Matt Osmont, RIBA Rowen Memorial Hall 7.30 pm, Thursday 26 September 2019 All welcome…Refreshments available The Conwy Valley is blessed with many ancient buildings of national importance and we are all increasingly aware of their value to our communities, heritage and landscape. However, over the years, indifference and the application of inappropriate conservation methods have sadly degraded many fine buildings. Fortunately there is now a better understanding of appropriate technologies and a wider appreciation of the importance of good practice. In his talk Matt will tell us about modern attitudes, approaches and policy, including planning requirements, and look at some well-known local examples. About Matt:- Matt Osmont is Senior Conservation Architect at Donald Insall Associates, Conwy, a leading conservation architecture practice, where he is responsible for assessing and advising on conservation projects throughout North Wales. He is architect to the Bro Celynnin Ministry Area and has recently assessed all their churches, including the Valley churches of St Mary’s, Caerhun, St Peter’s, Llanbedr y Cennin, the Llangelynnin Old Church and St Benedict’s, Gyffin. Matt is an acccredited RIBA Conservation Architect, a Professional Examiner for the RIBA and holds a master’s degree in Sustainable Building Conservation.
