Ernest John Moeran – Symphony in G minor, first movement Messiaen's -cycle Harawi is the first part of a trilogy of New Philharmonia Orchestra works inspired by the legend of Tristan and Isolde. Harawi Sir Adrian Boult (conductor) alludes to Peruvian love songs, even though the texts to the 12 Lyrita SRCD 247, Track 4 songs are by Messiaen himself.

The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment Ten thousand people from all parts of Mali, from neighbouring West African countries, and from Europe, Asia and the Ahead of this evenings Prom, Catherine Bott is joined by Chief Americas, gathered in Segou in central Mali earlier this year for Executive of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment the annual Festival on the Niger. Lucy Duran introduces Stephen Carpenter to explore the history of the Orchestra and performances by Abdoullaye Diabate and Yoro Diallo, who are to hear some of their recordings. both hugely popular in Mali but little known outside, and she goes in search of the rarely-heard hunters music of the region. Producer: Sam Phillips The Festival is literally on the Niger, as the performers play Playlist from a barge that floats on this great African river. It was started three years ago to promote culture and tourism in that Bach: Brandenburg Concerto No 3 region, to try and tempt travellers on their way to Timbuktu to Alison Bury, director stop in Segou for a while.
