The app is free, but in order to use it, you have to pay for the service by subscribing to one of their plans. When you set up a LiquidSky account, you'll probably notice the interface looks just like a PC desktop. You can use this desktop just like your DESKTOP PC by installing your favorite games and playing them on your Android. As most computer require a keyboard and mouse or controller, you can use any of these options that are adapted for Android. You need a stable internet connection and Android 6.0 or higher to use LiquidSky. It's also best to use within 500 kilometres of one of its data centers in San Jose, California; Dallas, Texas; Washington, D.C.; Frankfurt, Germany; London, England; and Hong Kong. With LiquidSky you can open your Steam account on your Android and play hundreds of computer games that you never thought would work. Gaming streaming services through the cloud are becoming more viable, now that fiber optic connections are more common around the world. The two big examples are PlayStation Now and GeForce Now. However, there is a new player in town called LiquidSky. The service has been in private beta for quite some time, but now everyone can enlist to give it a try. There is a free plan that is supported by advertising (although they won't interrupt your gaming experience) which are then translated into SkyCredits, the virtual currency of LiquidSky. Of course, the other option is paying real money after choosing from a series of subscription plans (starting at $9.99 per month). You should note, however, that free users will have to wait before playing as access is being shaken by boarding groups. Needless to say, subscribers can play right away. Three levels of performance are available. The Gamer package gives you access to a 2GB VRAM cloud PC, 3 virtual processor cores, 8GB of RAM for 1080P@30FPS experience at a cost of 60 SkyCredits per hour. The Pro package powers its up to 4GB of VRAM, 6 virtual processors, 16GB of RAM for 1080P@60FPS experience at a price of 120 SkyCredits per hour. Finally, the Elite package goes to all with 8GB of VRAM, 12 virtual processor cores, 32GB of RAM for 1080P@60 FPS on Ultra quality settings and a price of 240 SkyCredits per hour. Of course, it's assuming that your internet connection can handle this kind of streaming. LiquidSky recommends at least 20 MB/s for 1080P@60 FPS experience, while 5Mb/s will only allow for 720P@30 FPS. You should always use an Ethernet cable whenever possible, or a 5Ghz WiFi connection; 4G mobile networks are also working well, but LiquidSky warns that more bandwidth can be used. On the other hand, PC requirements are extremely low (Windows 7, 2GB of RAM, 250MB storage, integrated graphics). After all, the most interested in a service like this are those who don't have access to a proper gaming PC. You can download the Windows client here. LiquidSky will eventually be available for Mac and Android devices (and then Linux).

  • Towards Enhancing Qoe for Software Defined Networks Based Cloud Gaming Services
Towards Enhancing QoE for Software Defined Networks Based Cloud Gaming Services by Maryam Amiri Thesis submitted to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Faculty of Engineering University of Ottawa © Maryam Amiri, Ottawa, Canada, 2019 Abstract The high-profit digital gaming industry has merged with the increasing interest in transforming everything into cloud services, which leads to a novel concept called on-demand gaming. Recently, on-demand gaming, otherwise known as Cloud gaming, has become a promising paradigm for game users and providers. In this thesis, we aim to investigate the optimization of Quality of Experience (QoE) for cloud gaming systems, while considering network challenges, system constraints, and service requirements. We aim to improve the gamer’s QoE from two main network perspectives— cloud perspective, where mechanisms for QoE enhancement must be observed and controlled by the cloud to optimally allocate data center resources to user requested gaming sessions, and home gateways perspective, where the network acquires gamers’ QoE parameters and uses them to maximize the overall QoE of the clients who are sharing the same gateway at home. First, we address the issue of enhancing the client’s QoE by proposing a method to optimally allocate data center resources to user requested gaming sessions. The method considers the current status of the network in terms of communication delay, available computational resources in game servers and processing delay, and the genre of the requested game to select the appropriate server in the cloud for game execution and the network path for game data transfer within the data center.
