From Canada’s influence on early rock ‘n’ roll music with the 50’s songs, “Little Darlin’” and the boisterous “Sh’Boom”, to the breathtaking modern duet of Celine Dion/David Foster’s “The Prayer”, this concert showcases an extraordinary range of music. Toes tap to classic fiddle tunes and modern French-Canadian chansons, while hands clap to a heavy metal, rock medley that includes “Takin’ Care of Business” and “Born to Be Wild”. A highlight is the singers’ beautiful rendition of the late Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”. Along the way the artists share anecdotes and side stories with the audience about the artists and the music they wrote, pointing out, “Music is the most popular language in the world.” Quick comic asides throughout the show, (“Canada is the only nation where you can wear shorts and a parka at the same time!”), and Stompin’ Tom Connors’ ever popular “The Hockey Song” continually reminded the crowd that yes, Canadians do have a great sense of humour along with their gift of music.

Back by popular demand, critically acclaimed comedian Mike Delamont brings the highly-anticipated sequel to the hit one- man show God Is A Scottish Drag Queen. God, dressed in a floral power suit, is back with irreverent (but not sacrilegious) laughs about everything from pop culture to the pope.

The first installment of the show received such acclaim as Critics Choice Best Comedy at the Orlando Fringe Festival, Pick of the Fringe in Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Orlando, and nominees for Best English Production at the Centaur Theatre and Best Comedy at Just For Laughs in Montreal. Having sold out houses across North America, the unprecedented achievements of its predecessor marks God Is A Scottish Drag Queen II: The Second Coming a certain success.

Member $26 | General public $32 | Student $20 | SID TIX $20 APRIL VERCH BAND SAT MAY 12, 2018 7:30 PM

While Verch is perhaps best known for playing traditional fiddle styles from her native Ottawa Valley, her performances extend into old-time American and Appalachian styles and beyond, for a well-rounded tour-de-force of North Americana sounds. Verch tours with world-class musicians as a trio, featuring acoustic guitar, mandolin, bass and clawhammer banjo in addition to Verch’s vocals, fiddle and foot percussion. One might suspect a performer with as many talents as Verch would pause to take a breath, or need to somewhat compartmentalize her skills during a live performance. But on stage, Verch is almost superhuman, flawlessly intertwining and overlapping different performative elements. She stepdances while fiddling. She sings while stepdancing. Sometimes she sings, steps and fiddles all at once, with apparent ease and precision. Verch is - as they say - a triple threat in performance, her live show a beautiful companion to her music: versatile, robust, and masterfully executed.
