School Closing Information Student safety is one of our highest priorities. With the winter season upon us, we will make every effort to keep your child safe and minimize lost instruction time. When making the decision to close school for inclement weather, the district administrator receives information from several different sources, including the Langlade County Highway Department, Lamers Bus Company, Town of Elcho, Elcho School Maintenance Director, and Great Lakes Weather Service. The school district is a large geographic area of several hundred square miles and there can be considerable differences in weather conditions throughout the district. We will do our best to make the appropriate decision in a timely manner, and if possible, by 6:00 a.m. If parents have any doubts or concerns about the weather, they can choose to keep their child(ren) home. Stay tuned to the TV/Radio stations listed below regarding school closing. Television Radio WJFW TV-12 WXPR FM 91.7 WSAW TV-7 WOFM FM 94.7 WAOW TV-9 WIFC FM 95.5. WMQA FM 95.9 WHDG FM 97.3 WRHN FM 100.1 WDEZ FM 101.9 WRLO FM 105.3 WXCO-WYCO FM 107.9 WACD-WATK AM 900/FM 98.7 WOBT AM 1240/FM 101.3 WLKD AM 1570 Other considerations: • If there is no announcement through the above stations, school will be held. • In the event of a school closing, all programs, including the Early Learning Center, fitness center and extra-curricular activities will be canceled. • In the event of a 2-hour delay, these same programs will also be delayed. • In instances of a two-hour delay, the morning 4K students do not need to report. However, they are welcome to attend, but 4K programming will still end at 11:15 a.m. • At the start of school, families completed an “Emergency School Closing Form” to plan ahead for these days. It is very important that you and your child know the plan for emergency school closings. Please update this form if your plan has changed. It is not possible to contact parents of all our children to clarify their plan. .

WSD Elementary Out-of-School Learning Programs Emergency Weather Cancellation Plan (PLEASE KEEP TOP HALF OF SHEET) Weather or mechanical breakdowns sometimes require early or emergency dismissal during the school day. District-wide emergency dismissals are announced on the television and radio stations listed below. This Emergency Weather Cancellation Plan addresses those times when there is not an early dismissal and the District has not cancelled all after-school programs, but weather conditions are worsening. Programs offered by the Out-of-school learning programs may announce cancellation of after-school programs (independent of a District decision) to assure safety of students, staff, and volunteers in its programs at the following schools: Hawthorn Hills, Lincoln, Stettin, Thomas Jefferson, Grant, GD Jones and Riverview. This decision will be announced by 1:00 PM on television and radio stations listed below and by phone and/or e-mail via School Messenger. (This may precede a District-wide decision.) If after-school programs must be cancelled, we would like to know that you have made plans for your child(ren). Please complete the form below and return it to your out-of-school Enrichment Coordinator. Discuss the plan with your child/children. It is difficult for students to telephone for instructions at these times, so we will keep a copy of your after-school plan on file. Please plan ahead to assure the safety of your child and inform us of any changes in this plan. It is the responsibility of parents to be attentive to cancellations and to act accordingly to your child’s plan in the event of a cancellation.
