This naturally blond, mid-western girl transformed herself into a glamour girl like those she admired. Performing striptease since 1992, she is the biggest name in burlesque world-wide since Gypsy Rose Lee, and is credited with bringing the art form back into the spotlight with a new sense of elegance and sophistication. Taking audiences on a journey into fantasy and spectacle, Dita is renowned for her ornate sets and dazzling haute-couture performance costumes adorned with hundreds of thousands of Swarovski crystals. This “Burlesque Superheroine” (Vanity Fair) is the performer of choice at high profile events including those for designers such as Marc Jacobs, Christian Louboutin, Louis Vuitton, Chopard, and Cartier, and was the first guest star in history at Paris’ famed Crazy Horse (established in 1951) where she has performed several sold-out runs. In addition to her burlesque shows, Dita is a self-styled fashion icon, topping best-dressed lists all over the world. Featured on Vanity Fair’s International Best Dressed List 2013, Dita has recently expanded into her own distinct brands. Her lingerie collection debuted exclusively with Bloomingdale’s in the U.S. in March 2014, and has expanded to other popular U.S. retailers such as Nordstrom, Dillard’s, Barenecessities.com and Journelle. Dita also recently launched a luxury glove collection, has collaborated on her very own collection of signature sunglasses, and her fragrance collec- tion offers four award-winning glamorous scents. Her latest book, "Your Beauty Mark: The Ultimate Guide to Eccentric Glamour” was recently added to the New York Times Best Seller’s list. An advocate in the fight against HIV and Aids, Dita was a MAC Viva Glam Spokesperson from 2006-2008 and in 2009 she participated in the H&M/Fashion Against Aids t-shirt campaign. She has also performed and appeared at several events for Amfar and was honored with their Award of Courage in 2008. Her status as a burlesque star and modern- day feminist has also garnered her an invitation to speak at the Oxford Student Union, where other elected speakers have included the Dalai Lama, Mother Teresa, Tony Blair, and Anna Wintour. 2016.FEMMY.Pages.1-29_47443-Femmy PG 1-24 1/27/16 8:04 PM Page 7 DITA VON TEESE 2016.FEMMY.Pages.1-29_47443-Femmy PG 1-24 1/27/16 8:04 PM Page 8 PRESIDENT’S LETTER 2016 Good evening and welcome to the Femmy Gala, the Underfashion Club’s annual dinner that recognizes and celebrates the significant achievements of Intimate Apparel Industry leaders worldwide! Honorees are selected from the retail, manufacturing, supply and design sectors of the business. I would like to extend the heartiest of congratulations to this year’s honorees, Amazon Fashion, Richard Leeds International, Inc., Best Pacific/New Horizon, Lane Bryant/Cacique and Martin Trust, all of whom exemplify innovative spirit and dedication to our industry! Special congratulations to President’s Award VICTOR H. VEGA recipient Francesca Spinetta. As a fundraising event, the Femmy Gala serves a dual purpose: creating a venue for business and social interchange, and generating the monies that enable us to fulfill our mission of “Supporting education today for a better industry tomorrow.” In addition to the extensive scholarship support that has been given for many years to the best and brightest intimate apparel students at the Fashion Institute of Technology, we have expanded our support to include scholarships for fashion merchandising students at LIM College, and graduating seniors from the High School of Art & Design in New York City, and the Design and Architecture Senior High (DASH) School in Miami. And next on our list – design and merchandising students at Parsons The New School For Design. Special thanks to our most generous dedicated scholarship providers, Best Pacific, Fashion Forms, KOMAR, MGF Sourcing, Richard Leeds International, and Tianhai Lace. This is the second year that the Mary Krug Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $5,000 has been awarded to a fashion merchandising student at LIM College. Mary was Vice President and Division Merchandise Manager of Neiman Marcus Stores. When she died in 2013, Mary left a great legacy in the countless buyers, assistant buyers and vendors that she trained and educated over the years. A group of industry executives established a scholarship in her memory for students of fashion merchan- dising, and entrusted the Underfashion Club with its management. As part of our emphasis on the students who are our future, the Femmy Gala is hosting, for the thirteenth consecutive year, a design contest featuring garments designed by student from the Fashion Institute of 2016.FEMMY.Pages.1-29_47443-Femmy PG 1-24 1/27/16 8:04 PM Page 9 President’s Letter (continued) Technology’s Fashion Design program. Thanks are extended to the SAIG Co-Chairs, Suzanne Beck and Clelia Parisi, and to FIT Professor Alexandra Armillas. Special thanks to the design contest sponsors Clover Group International, Regina Miracle International and Stretchline Holdings for providing the cash awards that will be presented to tonight’s contestants and to Eurovet and Curvexpo for providing roundtrip airfare, accommodations and compli- mentary admission to this July’s Interfiliere Paris / Salon International de la Lingerie for the winner of the Student Design Contest. The Femmy Gala takes months of advance planning. Sincere congratulations and thanks to Femmy Co-Chairs, Karen Bromley and Sonja Winther and the entire Femmy committee, for their enthusiasm and hard work. For 58 years, the Underfashion Club has been a bastion of dedicated volunteers who are passionately working to make a difference in our industry! We strive each year to offer our members benefits that will enhance their knowledge of the industry, and their opportunity for advancement: • Our web site, www.underfashionclub.org, is the portal for mining a wealth of information and guidance, which includes an online Membership Directory, and the Femmy Journal Archive. • Our Blog, “Insider,” shines a spotlight on industry leaders and topics and provides trend direction! • Our Seminars inform and educate our members and industry associates in a comfortable, social atmosphere. I want to make special mention of the Intimate Apparel Council, an organization that for many years was responsible for setting the Intimate Apparel market dates in the United States. Boudoir & Fine Art Photography: The Intersection of Fun & Seduction A Guide for First Time Clients and Veteran Boudies Monumental Arts Professional Fine Art Photography Boudoir & Fine Art Photography: Introduction So you are thinking about a Boudoir & Fine Art photography session – how exciting! But what is a boudoir & Fine Art session? Sounds simple – it’s just a sexy portrait session, right? Yes, no, and maybe, all at once! Boudoir is a unique and intimate style of photography – and whether you're looking for a romantic, glamour, pin-up, or fantasy session, it takes a big step to jump right in. Boudoir photography is a broad genre of photography that involves female subjects in sensual and suggestive poses. It is distinct from erotic photography in its emphasis on the aesthetic qualities of the subject and the craftsmanship of the photographic process over the sexually stimulating nature of the image. So, whether you are a veteran in front of the camera or brand new to the role, there are some things you should know about Boudoir & Fine Art photography. Tasteful, Private, and Confidential Sessions One of the top questions I’m asked regarding boudoir is “will these be online”? I have photographed over 300 boudoir sessions since I started in 2012 – most are completely private and are never seen online. In other words, if you don’t want your images shown on my website as examples, they never will be! I guarantee “Tasteful, Private, and Confidential Sessions!” Boudoir & Fine Art Styles Boudoir: Boudoir, as mentioned above, typically involves female subjects in sensual and suggestive poses.

Tuesday, February 2 Cipriani 42nd Street, NYC In the wake of the devastation brought about by the earthquake that leveled much of Haiti, the Underfashion Club has financially supported the efforts of Doctors Without Borders to provide emergency medical care to the survivors. Additionally, we applaud the efforts of so many other organizations, including K.I.D.S. (Kids In Distressed Situations,) a 25-year-old charity that has mobilized the apparel industry and already raised more than $6 million in products (clothes, socks, underwear and blankets) for the men, women and children of Haiti. Their efforts are ongoing and, in the months to come, as that country rebuilds and the news media departs, there will continue to be a need for a variety of items donated by manufacturers and retailers. Council of Fashion Designers of America ANNUAL REPORT 2017 The mission of the Council of Fashion Designers of America is to strengthen the impact of American fashion in the global economy. B 1 Letter from the Chairwoman, Diane von Furstenberg, and the President and Chief Executive Officer, Steven Kolb In fashion, we respond to the world we live in, a point that was powerfully driven home in 2017. We were excited to see talents with broad cultural backgrounds and political ideas begin to express their experiences and beliefs through their collections. Diversity moved into the spotlight in ways we have never seen before. Designers embraced new approaches to business, from varying show formats to disruptive delivery cycles. It was also the year to make your voices heard, and CFDA listened. We engaged in civic initiatives important to our industry and partnered with Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, and FWD.us. We also relaunched our CFDA Health Initiative with guidelines to help those impacted by sexual assault or other forms of abuse. There’s no going back. In 2018, CFDA is moving ahead at full speed with an increased focus on inclusivity and women in fashion, the latter through an exciting new study with Glamour magazine. We may be a reflection of the world we live in, but we also work hard to make that world a better place. Altruism, after all, never goes out of style. 3 CFDA STRENGTHENED PILLARS WITH MISSION-DRIVEN ACTIONS MEMBERSHIP Fashion Professional Fashion Civic+ Retail Partnership Week + Market Development Supply Chain Philanthropy Opportunities SUSTAINABILITY INDUSTRY ENGAGEMENT SOCIAL AND EDITORIAL MARKETING AND EVENTS KEY UNCHANGED MODIFIED NEW PROVIDED INITIATIVES RELEVANT TO DESIGNERS EMERITUS AT EVERY STAGE OF CAREER DESIGNERS • Board Engagement • Philanthropy and Civic ICONIC Responsibility DESIGNERS • Mentorship • Editorial Visibility • Board Engagement • Fashion Week • Philanthropy and Civic ESTABLISHED Responsibility DESIGNERS • Mentorship • Editorial Visibility • NETWORK.

  • The Lingerie Salesmen
The Lingerie Salesmen Gary chases his dream job, to become a sales rep for a lingerie wholesaler. The story is set in 1968. 1 | P a g e As Gary Jones sat in the hotel restaurant in Norwich eating his steak and chips he reflected on what had been a good week so far for sales. It was a Thursday night in October 1968. He had secured several big orders from customers in his patch. He had been on the road for three days and was looking forward to getting home and seeing his wife in Peterborough tomorrow. Perhaps he might sit at the bar for a drink after dinner. There only seemed to be one other man at the bar, nursing a beer. Nine months ago, he had been working for a tractor dealer in Peterborough. Sometimes he had to travel round Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire and Norfolk, selling spare parts. Although he was a successful salesman he found it slightly dull. He had been looking for a new job that paid bonuses based on sales as he knew he would make more money that way. It was his wife who had pointed out the advert in the local paper for a sales rep for a local firm, called Webbers. He had seen the ad but had skipped over it. The sales rep would be selling women’s lingerie and hosiery to department stores and family run businesses anywhere in the UK. Although the firm was also based in Peterborough it would probably mean being away from home most weeks. “But I don’t know anything about women’s clothes, “he said in protest.
