A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE SOUTHERN LAU WATERS.

Situation: A trough of low pressure with cloud and showers remains slow moving over the eastern parts of Fiji. Meanwhile, a moist northeast wind flow prevails over the group.

Forecast to midnight tonight for Fiji waters: For Southern Lau Waters:

Northeast winds 20 to 25 knots. Rough seas. Moderate southeast swells. Poor visibility in areas of showers and thunderstorms.

Further outlook: East to northeast winds 20 to 25 knots. Rough seas.

EVENT LOCATION ACTION TAKEN FEA has started excavating Fallen tower on the Wailoa to Vuda temporary road access to the tower Wailoa Power station transmission line. that has cut off power supply from Wailoa station to Western Division Twelve out of two hundred and ninety six (296) poles are down on Vuda to Rarawai Contractors are expected to starts the said line. This power line 33kV sub- work on the site on Wednesday, 24th transports power from Vuda towards transmission line February, 2016. Ba, Tavua & Rakiraki.

6.3 AIRPORTS FIJI LIMITED

 All our aerodromes are now operational following a special assessment trip by Airports Fiji Limited to Lau yesterday. (23/02/16)

 At 1500 yesterday AFL had issued a status update to all stakeholders advising them that our runways at Cicia, Lakeba, Moala and Vanuabalavu in the Lau group were operational.

 We were able to establish contact with people on the ground at Ono-i-Lau at midday today making it the last of our outer island stations to be cleared for landing.

 On Tuesday Koro and Bureta were cleared and on Monday afternoon Savusavu became operational.

 AFL’s 13 outer island stations are now operating however damages to some of our terminals means operations are restricted.

 Our terminal building in Koro and Vanuabalavu are completely destroyed whilst the fire station in Savusavu is severely damaged.
