Zur fünften ATZ/TÜV SÜD-Konferenz „engine.tech – Der Antrieb von morgen“ laden wir Sie sehr herzlich in die AutoUni von Volkswagen nach Wolfsburg ein. Das bisherige Interesse an dieser jährlichen Veranstaltung war so groß, dass wir nach Ingolstadt, Stuttgart, Neckarsulm und München nun in Wolfsburg zusammenkommen. Das Schwerpunktthema in diesem Jahr ist die Elektrifizierung des An- triebsstrangs. Die Antriebsentwicklung insgesamt sieht sich weiterhin großen Herausforderungen ausgesetzt. Die Emissionsziele sind nur noch mit erheblichem Aufwand zu erreichen. Die Senkung des Kraftstoffverbrauchs und die Reduktion von CO2 haben weiterhin höchste Priorität. Werden die Potenziale des Verbrennungsmotors ausreichen oder stehen wir am Beginn der Elektrifizierung des Antriebs? Welche Alternativen stehen uns überhaupt zur Verfügung und wie können sie rasch umgesetzt werden? Welchen Weg beschreiten die Automobilhersteller bei der Hybridisierung und welche Lösungen werden in welchen Märkten favorisiert? Ist die Zukunft der Brenn- stoffzelle schon vorbei? Welchen Beitrag leisten die Kraftstoffe? Darüber wollen wir mit Ihnen diskutieren und uns durch ausgewiesene Experten einen Einblick in den Stand der Forschung und Entwicklung auf diesen Themenfeldern geben lassen. Wir freuen uns darauf, Sie in Wolfsburg in einer anregenden Veranstaltungs- umgebung begrüßen zu dürfen. Almost 10 years ago to the day, RUF began to fill niches in the market with the, at that time new, water -cooled Porsche models. The first RUF RGT was based on the Porsche 996. It used the 3.6 litre engine from the GT3 as the base with the crankcase from the air-cooled 3.6 litre engines. The engine delivered 385 HP (283kW). The car itself ran on 18" RUF alloy wheels and the narrow body was optimized aerodynamically. The vehicle was fitted with our discrete but functional Integrated Roll Cage. In 2004 the story continued, this time based on the Porsche 997. Immediately recognizable by the carbon composite fender extensions both front and rear. The powerplant was a naturally aspirated 3.8 litre unit delivering 445 HP (327kW). A dry-sump oil system ensured sufficient lubrication even under tough racing conditions. A roll-cage was fitted standard ensuring a high level of passive safety. By the same token, one look at the sick power of a force-fed AMG cruise missile or a glance at the latest big-cube ‘Vette can ruin the fashion-conscious Porschephile’s entire day– no matter what they say about pedigree, finesse and handling. Yes, today's horsepower wars hit zer dicht to Zuffenhausen's 300-ish horsepower heartland. Luckily, Porsche lovers have a secret weapon: the RUF Auto Centre. The internationally-known Porsche tuning-haus offers an extensive selection of 911 eye candy. Case in point: our tester’s front and rear valances. The RUF-exclusive bodywork is deeper and more forward thinking than stock, giving the 911 an altogether keener stance– and virtually guaranteeing some expensive scuff repair. RUF’s five-spokes are mercifully, purposefully flat and, mission critically, a half inch wider at both ends. Back in bling world, the RUF appearance package adds a bi-plane spoiler sporting both painted and exposed carbon-fiber wings. Like, awesome. RUF’s retina-scorching red runner may attract more attention than a stock Carrera, or Adriana Lima, but metrosexual Teutonic purists rejoice: our tester’s interior upgrades were limited to a new RUF-embossed airbag cover and heat-soak friendly aluminum shift knob.
