And as if that isn’t impressive enough, the year-book is now ready, somewhat smaller than before, and only written in English, but with much more colour — and a price tag to match! More about that next time. I was delighted in the previous edition to be able to publish a work by one of the club members, and I refer to the article on Stog, that took up the centre pages. In this edition, another member has written about the winter trip to Stockholm. Maybe I can twist a few more arms; and not just those of the members…! One person we have heard little from, is my assistant editor, Andrew Henning. Well, he has been very busy, helping me with the changes that this journal has gone through. (He’s more involved with the production of the journal than actually writing it!) I will be the first to admit that I am very reluctant to try something if I’m not really sure of where it will lead me. Andrew, on the other hand, studies this sort of thing at school (and he’s in his last year now) and is much more adventurous in this respect. The changes to the journal would have happened anyway, but it is thanks to Andrew (and a few others) that these changes have been so good. Unfortunately, Andrew says that this will be his last year in this capacity! At this point, a note about contributors. I will usually list contributors on the content page where their submissions have been news or similar “small” items. A big feature (such as the article on Stog, for example) will show the contributor / author with the article. I think this is the best way to do it. Occasionally, however, some contributors especially request to not be mentioned, and this is always respected. It is 25 years since I produced my first book. This was in the style of the Loco-spotters books, but for the locomotives on my British 00- gauge model railway! All being well, I hope that in the following editions this year, to be able to bring some “Flash-backs” to the news of 5, 10, 15, 20 & 25 years ago. (Uh-oh, this could be embarrassing!) Adrian Allum. FLMJ-N ytt … 3 H julm arknaden 2003. B y Thom as C ram e. As you may or may not know, a number of Swedish railway societies and other groups hold a Christmas market in Stockholm. This is one of many other fayres in the city at the time, which are known as Julmarknaden (Christmas Market). This is different, instead of Jul, the word Hjul (wheel) is used instead, to denote the railway connection. C ra m e .] A delegation from AJK travel to Stockholm every third year to visit the fayre, and this third year was no exception. The delegation consisted of Adrian and yours truly, travelling out on Friday 5th December and returning the following Monday. The weekend started uneventfully. On Friday, instead of getting up at some unearthly hour to make my way into London, I rose at the more comfortable hour of 9.00, checked 4 … FLMJ-N ytt the weather forecast at www.sweden.se and made my way to Heathrow Airport, suitcase and passport in tow. Having met up with Adrian, all that was left was to enjoy cheap shopping and to board the plane. Due to the late arrival of the plane from Barcelona, we left Heathrow about an hour late at 15.20, touching down at Arlanda at about 18.45 Swedish time. While waiting for our cases, the weather forecaster’s prediction came true and it started to snow! Once we had been reunited with our baggage, we were met by our host for the weekend, Lars-Göran Allhammar, a friend of Adrian’s.
