This booklet is expected to enable the readers to obtain brief information concerning direction of the banking policies in 2018 as well as policies and regulations 1 Chapter in the banking sector issued by Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) in 2017. In contrast to the previous edition, this edition is divided into four chapters, as follows: Chapter I, which contains (i) OJK's vision, missions, functions and tasks and (ii) definitions, prohibition and business activities of the banking industry; Chapter II, which contains the authorities and policies of OJK in the banking sector; Chapter III, which contains the direction of OJK’s policies in 2018 and the development of OJK’s policies in 2017; and Chapter IV, which contains banking regulations that are still in force, including OJK’s Regulations issued in 2017. We realize that there are yet shortcomings in the presentation of this 2018 Indonesia Banking Booklet in terms of contents and formats, however, we still hope that the information presented can yet provide optimal benefits to the readers. SP 110/DKNS/OJK/XI/2016 PRESS RELEASE OJK AND INVESTMENT ALERT TASKFORCE UNCOVER TWO ILLEGAL INVESTMENT CASES AND A LOAN REPAYMENT FRAUD ___________________________________________________________________________ Jakarta, November 1, 2016 — The Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Task Force for Handling Alleged Unlawful Acts involving Public Funds Collection and Investment Management (the Investment Alert Task Force) stated that the activities carried out by PT Cakrabuana Sukses Indonesia (PT CSI) and Dream for Freedom were unlawful or illegal. The Investment Alert Task Force also stated that United Nations Swissindo World Trust International Orbit (UN Swissindo) conducted illegal activities by promising loan repayments, since the company had received no license from any financial authorities. Investment Alert Task Force Chairman Tongam Lumban Tobing made the statement at a press conference in Jakarta that he attended together with the Task Force members, which came from the National Police, the Attorney General’s Office, the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small- Medium Enterprises, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Trade, on Tuesday, November 1, 2016. PT CSI Case The Investment Alert Task Force has established that PT CSI’s activities fall into illegal investment activities. Therefore, relevant agencies will take immediate actions as follows: 1.! The Ministry of Cooperatives and Small-Medium Enterprises of the Republic of Indonesia will conduct supervision and inspection of BMT Madani Nusantara and BMT Sejahtera Mandiri, Sharia Savings and Loan and Financing Cooperatives, because despite the fact that both cooperatives’ branch offices do not have the relevant licenses, PT CSI has used them to collect public funds by offering the public, among others, investment opportunities in gold and savings accounts (that would give a monthly return of around 5 percent).

    SP 27/DKNS/OJK/III/2017 INVESTMENT ALERT TASK FORCE URGES PUBLIC TO BEWARE OF UN SWISSINDO’S OPERATION IN VARIOUS AREAS Denpasar, March 23, 2017 — The Task Force for Handling Alleged Unlawful Acts involving Public Funds Collection and Investment Management (the Investment Alert Task Force) urges the public to beware of the activities committed by UN Swissindo, which operates under the pretext of promising to repay one’s loans. “UN Swissindo’s operation has expanded to various areas, including Bali. So we hope the public will not be lured by their offers since their activities are illegal and do not comply with any loan repayment or financing mechanisms normally applied by banks and financing companies,” Investment Alert Task Force Chairman Tongam L Tobing said at a press conference in Bali, on Wednesday (Mar. 22). According to Tongam, UN Swissindo offered loan repayments by promising people that it would repay their loans/free them from their debts. It targeted those who had bad debts in banks, financing companies or other financial services companies. Its modus operandi was to issue guarantee letters/debt relief statements on behalf of the President and the State of the Republic of Indonesia as well as on behalf of international institutions from other countries. They provoked debtors not to pay their loans to creditors. A. Below are some of the methods that the company uses to offer its services: 1. Claiming that it acts on behalf of the state and/or certain state institutions on the grounds of people’s sovereignty, which is established by Pancasila (the national ideology) and the 1945 Constitution; 2.

    1 Secularization of religion in Indonesia: From Custom to Pancasila and back to adat Stephen C. Headley (CNRS) [Version 3 Nov., 2008] Introduction: Why would anyone want to promote or accept a move to normalization of religion? Why are village rituals considered superstition while Islam is not? What is dangerous about such cultic diversity? These are the basic questions which we are asking in this paper. After independence in 1949, the standardization of religion in the Republic of Indonesia was animated by a preoccupation with “unity in diversity”. All citizens were to be monotheists, for monotheism reflected more perfectly the unity of the new republic than did the great variety of cosmologies deployed in the animistic cults. Initially the legal term secularization in European countries (i.e., England and France circa 1600-1800) meant confiscations of church property. Only later in sociology of religion did the word secularization come to designate lesser attendance to church services. It also involved a deep shift in the epistemological framework. It redefined what it meant to be a person (Milbank, 1990). Anthropology in societies where religion and the state are separate is very different than an anthropology where the rulers and the religion agree about man’s destiny. This means that in each distinct cultural secularization will take a different form depending on the anthropology conveyed by its historically dominant religion expression. For example, the French republic has no cosmology referring to heaven and earth; its genealogical amnesia concerning the Christian origins of the Merovingian and Carolingian kingdoms is deliberate for, the universality of the values of the republic were to liberate its citizens from public obedience to Catholicism.
